The NTSC-U version of Myst works well enough to play if anyone cares. Sound is choppy or off pitch sometimes.....a lot, but didn't seem THAT horrible.  Make sure SPU IRQ hack  is enabled and the special game fixes seemed to help as well. Also in game you should select "fastest transitions"  or else you get pixelation moving from place to place. If anyone figures out how to make the sound better please let me know.

thanks !

damn, if only psxeven had a linux port..

It would be the greatest psx emulator for xbox.

Psxeven run something like 3x times faster than epsxe on my p4 3.2
If epsxe linux on xbox run as well as psxbox.. then psxeven could certandly give perfect emulation and complete game compatibility on the xbox..

Bump...has anyone ever figured out the way to fix the battle menu's for FF8?  I read somewhere and i quote

"The game works just fine for me. At first it was running to fast but to fix that go to the option called frame rate click on use fps limit, then were it say fps limit 10-200 set that to about 70fps. It should work fine. The video plugin i'm using is Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.76. If you can't see the battle menus what you should do is this, under the option compatibility open up the off screen drawing option. Then choose enhanced shows more stuff. You should be able to see the battle menu now. Well that's all I got. If I figure out something else I will let you know. Before I forget i'm using ePsxe"

Is there something like this available for xdsl ??  I havent quite tried tweaking any of the settings yet...sitting here waiting for the .img to transfer over to the xbox...but in advance i figured id ask anyways smile.gif Thanks!

*Linux noob alert*
Hey guys...I followed the instructions all the way up to the point of giving a choice of how to boot. I select loopback install, and it proceeds to load up, but I get the following message...

Activating swap...
Checking root file system...
fsk 1.34-WIP
/dev/loop0 has gone 49710 days without being checked, check forced
/dev/loop0: Inodes that were part of a corrupted orphan link list found

/dev/loop0: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; run fsck MANUALLY.

fsck failed. Please repair manually and reboot. Please note that the root file system is currently mounted read only, to remount it read - write:

#mount -n -o remount, rw /

This is my first time messing with linux, so I dont know...
Is there anything Im doing wrong????

Thanx

Hey guys I'm having this exact same problem. XBOX v1.0, X2 5035 BIOS. Any ideas?

wtf!! I cant believe I have to type all this over again... *sighes* ok...

First I would like to start off with a big thanks for writing this tutorial. It's written perfectly. the only suggestion from me is to replace the padjoy082 link with a newer one. Ok, I have a few minor problems before i'm ready to go. I'd really love to be able to go through Star Ocean 2 again.  Especially since it was stolen from me. This tut is pretty straight up and i'm sooo close to having my favorite old school rpg once again. Ok here's what I need help with:

Sound: I added the spuEternal to my plugins directory but when i select sound in ePSXe it tells me it's disabled and wont let me select it.

Controller: "as I can tell, this is a pain in the ass": I tried typing 'sudo modprobe joydev' and it looks like it does what it's supossed to. When I get to the 'ext' option and the representation of the ps controller it wont let me change those settings. For instance: I click the L1, triangle, square, etc. buttons and when it highlights i press "x for square" and nothing happens. Could someone post all possible fixes here pleas.
Also: "Can i use one controller?" "Could I simply plug in a broken controller even though it doesnt work?"

Resolution: Everything looks great when i run star ocean. Things just get cut off. I changed my linuxboot.cfg to the one i need. It's too big on my tv though. For instance: Aterminal is cut off. it's all there jus to big for my tv. I can barely see my tasbar at the bottom. This makes full screen difficult for everything. When i run firefox it starts full screened making it difficult to close. I have to move my mouse to an area i cant see and randomly click until it closes. Can someone help me here?

and last but not least also not that important

Quicker startup of ePSXe: I read that i can have it type "sudo modprobe joydev" and run betaftp on startup. How exactly do I do this? Once I get things working this would elimate a lot of hastle especially since I have to use the virtual keyboard. Also how do i make ePSXe a desktop shortcut?

I appreciate everything that's been done here. I'm sooo close...  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

P.S. - I'm a total Linux noob here

Ok Even if this is dead. I'm here to help. Like I said, I'm a linux noob here to. So I rushed into this tutorial and everything seemed to go smooth, until i noticed the controller wasnt detecting and I heard no sound.
My advice is to take things slow. After a few trial and errors I now almost have the controller working.lin
I've read these 10 pages numerously and my browser hated loading it for some reason. Well if you want help IM me at ChainedFreak2002 on AIM. Im gonna double post and put my fix/suggestions.

+ good luck

did you ever get an answer to your problem?

i'm having the same problem.  i can't seem to edit the buttons at the controller configuration.  i can't tell if anything happens when i run the sudo modprobe joydev command.

and i was wondering i have to do all these steps all over again each time i want to use epsxe?  because i noticed that i was ftping to a ramdisk and the ramdisk gets cleared every time i reboot.

Mmmm, I was wondering if this technique is valid with other emulators... Will be possible to run Yabause, the Sega Saturn emulator? In other thread we were discussing about porting it to the Xbox, but in fact there is a Linux port nowadays. Will it run here?
