How To Get Epsxe Working On The Xbox Using Xdsl

I had the exact same problem and it'll only take a minute to fix.  First you need to delete modules.conf in the /etc directory which can be done either through ftp or with the command line .If you go with command line you will need to be in super user mode. In BASH, type "su" for super user and "xbox" for the password. Next you will want to delete the module with "rm -r /etc/modules.conf" or ftp. Now that there's no more conflict type "modprobe joydev" and enjoy. There's a possibility that you might need one of the other commands you tried to configure your plugin with, but this is what worked for me. If its taken you a while don't feel bad - I installed all of this months ago and just got it working after learning a little bit of UNIX in school...

But.. since I have everyone's ear, does anyone have any optimum video settings to get most games playing at a decent click? I originally started this project to get a better playable version of Resident Evil 3 than what pcsxbox could offer, but its a little slower than I like.

does anyone know how to fix the problem that says

knoppix filesystem error?

"Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry.
Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.
Press reset button to quit."

I can't even get pass this error much less getting epsxe up and running.

OK...now we setup ePSXe. Open emelfm again and open the epsxe folder. You should see a file named epsxe...double click it and if all is well the ePSXe emulator screen will pop up. 1st things first: the controller plugin. on the epsxe screen click on the config tab at the top then scroll down to where it says ext. game pad. Select ammoq's padjoy pkugin from the list and click configure. your screen should be filled with a window with text representations of the psx controller setup. My analog sticks were loose so i had small interferance while I was doing this. But as long as you button inputs (B1, B2, B3, etc) match mine your end results should be fine.

Says plugin configred properly but when i click config button nothing happens ?  No config screen pops up

ran premod jovdev js0

plugins and config in proper folder

any ideas?

iF people would be kind enough to post what controller setup they have i would be grateful.

Example : Controller s or third party controller..   which port plugged in to.  Which you use for mouse etc...

Like the author of this thread:  My xbox jso is on port 2.

Just really curious to see if anyone has gotten controls config with a s controller?

thanks

HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT!

I missed this one, always thought it would be possible and prefered, but don't know enough (or care enough) about linux to have tried to figure it out myself.

I'll print out this thread and see if I can get it to work as well.

Thankx much!

There should be a Linux distro dedicated to this!

I wouldnt get so excited, man...like i said, this badboy's stable but slow to the point where its uncomfortable. Basically, every game youd want to play on the psx, you can play better on pcsxbox and yeah, the ones you cant (Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean: 2nd story, among a few others...) go so slow that they make their unbearable ebay prices almost affordable. Seriously, unless someone figures out a way to optimize this, ie, plugins that will speed up the video, i really cant recommend this and cant understand all the pants-crapping occuring...

i disagree

I think as far as compatibility its played everything i thrown at it.

But I want to play Turn Based Stat other then the more extensive and taxing stuff,

So compatibility the main appeal here. speed not been an issue for me.  depends what you want to play I guess.

Odd...The only control that I ever tested this with was a Controller S.  No idea why so many seem to be having problems with that setup.

What turn-based strategy games have you been playing on epsxe that wouldnt work on pcsxbox? Becuase honestly, every single strategy game i play on pcsxbox works like a charm and NOT slow as bawls so what exactly are you talking about?

Guys our prayers have been anwered.  XPORT has released and is continuing to release updates to PCSXbox currently on version 17!

From what I hear Valkery Profiles and several other games now work on PCSXbox.  It's got a new skin and all around sweet look.  I don't know about you but I'm done with this tutorial for good.  Long live PCSXbox.

hopefully people still read this thread smile.gif
i recently installed xdsl and epsxe, but whenever i try to load an image file, the screen flashes black for a second, then epsxe shuts down. i have tried loading from the dvd drive, and by copying the image to home/dsl, same result.
