Sorry if this is pretty nOOb question, this is my first xenuim.
Basically the SP ice is correclty installed and I see all the LEDs lighted, when I plug in the xenium gold, xenium led is correclty off, but the box start+stop a couple of time, then frags red+green.
I noticed that the SPice has 8 pairs of pins, the xenium has only 6 so i plugged in at the bottom of it accordingly to what shown in "Xenium S.P. IceQuick Install Guide for v 1.6" (which shows a 6 pair plug, maybe an older version).

Any idea or help is much appreciated

Ok, well just to rehash.

For a successful SP install, when the chip is not on the adapter, all 5 LEDs on the SP should be lit. Once the Xenium is placed on the correct pins, the LED on the SP apapter second from one end should no longer light up.

As to the correct positioning of the chip on the adapter, the Xenium sits with the 'X' in Xenium toward the rear of the xbox meaning that the LED on the base of the chip is toward the left hand side of the xbox lokibng at it from the front. In addition to that, the chip sits as close to the FRONT of the xbox as possible. The left over pins on the adapter should thus be toward the rear of the box.

Some suggestions, if you're not seeing all 5 adapter LEDS without the chip, remove the adapter and use a cotton tip with denatured alcohol to clean the surface of the motherboard, they're coated with an isulating laquer.

If the adapter is right but the LED doesn't go out when the chip is placed on the adapter, the chip is most likey positioned incorrectly. If it does go out but still FRAGS, check that the recovery switch on the side of teh chip is NOT is recovery mode. Recovery mode is activated when the sliding tab is closest to the top of the chip, sometimes they are shipped in recovery mode.

If it isn't in recovery mode then the install should be working. So if everythhing appears to be right and yet still no luck, move the tab to put the chip in recovery mode then attempt an OS recovery, either reading the recovery.bin file from DVD-CD or from a HDD if you happen to have a recovery.bin file already on it (located in the rott of E drive).

Then I do it in the right way but ....

..... no luck, still fragging. It start+stop 2 times, then frags red+green.
Thre's no way to get a screen image or to boot a DVD. I tried also the recovery procedure with the image downloaded from hxxp://www.teamxodus.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=68switching the selector in the right position but It is just fragging.

Should I presume the chip is broken and send it back?

....... worst thing is that unplugging chip and SP the xbox frags, with a message on the screen saying to call assistance !

what error message number do you get? it will frag if you have the xbox all apart trying to boot chip. if you think you have it all on right plug n your dvdand hd. dont screw all back together just set those inthere and see if it frags.

it sounds like you are trying to load the chip or the xbox with nothing plugged back in

so basically it cant find your dvd, use a differnt cable. are you using the stock cable? do you take your box apart alot. reason being i used to and i had cables just crap out

yep, you're right: after the 7th time I plug/unplug the IDE a pin got bent.
Now it's ok booting again MS bios and dash.

The Xenium is still fragging tho'.
i give up, hope a pro can install with the pinheader, or I'll thrash the damn thing away.

did you set your clock in the stock dash? i have that problem all the time. when its unplgged for a while it resets the clock and that could cause it to frag

just too recap. you have five lights on your solderless adapter right? when you put chip on theirs only four right? do you have the latest chip o.s.?

yep, all lights are on. When plugging the xenium the second turns off.
Didn't have the chance to change the OS version ... so I guess they shipped the chip with the latest ....

Are you saying that I should set the clock in the ORIGINAL bios/dash and THEN intall the chip ?
It has been actually unplugged for a while before I started to work on it ...

Still fragging.

I booted the stock, set the clock, installed the chip (all leds are on, when plugging the xenium the sedond is of....), and yet start/stop then gree*red frag.

Folks, thankyou for the suggestions but I definitely give up.

Gold+sp solderless is a bad experience for me. Never had such troubles with the Xbit.

Ya dude Im having the EXACT same problems as u are only im using the Xecuter 2.6CE modchip with this solderless adapter.  Havent tried the clock thing, but I honestly dont feel like spending any more time on this, Ill just find an installer in the DC area who solders modchips.

I think Xodus just makes horrible solderless adapters.  I say that because I also own a 1.0 Xbox and that adapter that comes with the white one (for v1.6) is used by itself for versions 1.0-1.5.  Well the LPCs on v1.0 are covered in solder.  I was never able to get my modchip to light up on v1.0 even though i had a great D0 connection (which is all u technically need).  I should've gotten the Xapter since that is the one everyone on this forum uses with success.

ok well i dont know if the s.p. adapter will work with a xecuter. you need the check the connection with the pogos at the bottom of the black part of the adapter. clean the lpc ports with some isopropyl alcohol and when you put the adapter on there you should here some clicks, so you know the pogos went in.

alright, my chip was definitely fried: it frags also onto a pinheader solder install.
Unlucky me, but I won't by Xenium anymore.
