Everything other than Surreal64 is based on outdated emulators (as is Surreal), but they haven't been touched in years.  The newest version is Surreal64 XXX beta 4.9, which is the best (and pretty much the only worthwhile) N64 emulator for the Xbox.  Although I would love to see Mupen64 ported over, seeing that it has been ported to many other OSes, including obscure ones like BeOS, so it shouldn't be much trouble porting it over to the Xbox.  Alas, I am an engineer and know nothing about programming...

I am getting nothing but a black screen and fuzzy audo with Ultraxle.  Can anyone help me get my n64 roms going on my xbox?

I got my xbox modded from a guy here intown and he just loaded one game, Mario 64 and that is the only one that works.  The n64 emulator I have on my xbox is Ultraxle.
I can get Mario.N64 to play fine.
But when I try any others it is a black screen with fuzzy audio in the background.

What format does the rom have to be in?  I tried .n64 .z64, .rom ?
On my PC I use Project 64.  I thought I could just FTP my N64 roms over to my xbox but that isnt working.
Any suggestions?

Here is a screen shot of my the N64 Roms

Thanks much, Shane

Get surreal xxx b4. Its the best for the xbox right now and is, I believe more stable than the newer beta 4.9. If you keep getting black screens while trying to run the emu, try patching all the xbes to retail with something like dexbe

I would like to get Sureal 64 but I read through the sticky thread pry 5 times and I dont see exactly how to get it.  Where to download it, then where to FTP it into my xbox.  If I can get help with that, I'd love to get Surreal.  But it didnt look that easy in the thread.
If anyone can try me on aim, Shanezam203 I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the help, Shane

Geez, I thought you were the same person as the one who started this thread (both your names' start with the letters "sha")  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Just read the whole tutorial and when you get surreal xxx_b4, replace Ultraxle with it.

you don't deperately need them i think. It just looks better. Makes recognizing a certain game a lot easier.

[mod edit] The rules are in place for a reason, do not attempt to circumvent the filters.  Links to sites housing XBEs are not allowed.  Only Xbins may be mentioned on the forum.  Consider this your only warning on the subject.

One question though before I go: I have Surreal 64 and Surreal XXX beta 4.9 and I'm trying to get F-Zero to work, but I'm not having any luck with either of the 3 emulators and/or settings yet in either program. I have the US version in both .n64 and .v64 formats, but that game won't friggin' work for some reason. I just went through this hassel with WCW Vs. NWO: World Tour and I finally got that to work (Only on Surreal XXX beta 4.9 with the 1964 emulator and MUST BE THE USA VERSION). Any suggestions, people?

Have you tried pj64 on your PC? I think thats the best choice for N64 emulation.

While we're on the subject, I haven't touched PC emulators since I got my modded xbox (spring '04) so I really don't know much about what's out there, or really care a whole lot.  But is there a near flawless 64 emulator that's ported to linux?  Might wanna go that route....

WHY DO YOU THINK THE LINK IS NOT ALLOWED.

osting/Requesting/Offering direct or indirect links for Game Console Roms (including, but not limited to XBOX, PSX, PS2, GameCube, All GameBoy, Nintendo, SNES, All Sega, ARCADE, etc.)  Collections or single roms for sale or trade are also not allowed. (Don’t argue about the age of the roms, the commercial viability of the roms, or the legalities as we don’t care)

There's Mupen64, with a port of Rice's texture replacer plugin.  But if you're thinking of playing this through Linux on the Xbox, think again...there's no hardware 3D acceleration yet in Linux for the Xbox.
