Xbox Emulator For The Xbox
« on: November 08, 2005, 08:33:00 PM »

I've been pondering on this for a while, but don't know if it's possible or not, but sometimes I needed ftp access while I was in a game, so couldn't someone make an xbox -> xbox emulator to give you certain features ingame?  I understand that the xbox can't emulate other platforms at it's level (GC, PS2) but why couldn't it emulate itself?  Sorry if this is just complete garbage.

You could just completely alter the code of every game that runs on the xbox

I've seen both strange, unrealistic and stupid emulator requests in the past ....
But this one tops them all

In what way is this stupid?  It may not sound possible, but why wouldn't it be?

Why do you want to emulate the hardware being run through software? First off the game will already suffer from a FTP server running in the background but then you want to add an unneeded emulation layor on top?

I'm not picking on you but that is why everybody's response is up there with wtf  .

It would be nice to run a FTP server in the background but the truth of the matter is it's not practical with the current system. This would be a lot more viable on the 360 since its capable of doing so many different things at once.

It can't be done due to the hardware limitations of the xbox. When the 733MHz CPU/64MB RAM has problems running a N64 emulator, imagine what trying to run a xbox emulator would do to your box. Fried CPU, anyone?
Not to mention that a viable/playable Xbox emulator is faaaar in the future.

That said - There have been beta bioses with FTP support developed earlier. None released as far as I know. But this would in my opinion be the way to go, especially since the xbox can not run a software program and a game at the same time.
