Mame-x And Kawa-x Bomb Out
« Reply #15 on: November 02, 2005, 09:56:00 PM »

Aha...I'd forgotten that I got build 26_08_05 off the XXX forums before they receeded into domain obscurity.  But he was asking where he could download MAMEdOX 1.1 anyway, and that's right up there.  I'd recommend he gets MAMEOX .84b3 while he's there too...and I'll stop talking about you in the third person now snowy.

If you get MAMEOX .84b3 while you're there, maybe getting it booted properly will shed light on your MAME-X problem.  It's almost identical to MAMEdOX 1.1 but with support for slightly fewer ROMs...so I hope it helps get some good arcade emulation working on your system.

Right guys, no joy.

I got the latest version of FBA-XXX, extracted it, Renamed the xbe to “default.xbe” and copied it to:
“E:\games\FBA-XXX”

It’s still not recognised by MXM. It refuses to list it in the games menu at all.
Evolution-X picks it up but the menu item was red and I couldn’t select it.

Prior to this I deleted every non-retail game save on the system using the MS Dash.

I didn’t bother putting any roms in the FBA-XXX roms folder but this shouldn’t matter should it?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
If there are any of the various Dashboard dev teams out there, could you offer any explanation as to what part of the application load process could case it to fail?
It’s happening to several apps in a very similar way so this leads me to believe that there’s something stopping them loading.

Hoping for a reply,
S.

MAMEdOX 1.1 has at least 30-40 changes over mameOX

And the sky is blue.  Nevertheless, both self-obvious statements have little relevance to snowy's problem and as such are ridiculous.

This sounds like a BIOS problem of some sort?  Some inability of the XBox to recognize certain XBEs as executable?  How's the system modded?  Have you tried any more respected dashboards?  Avalaunch/UnleashX/XBMC/etc?

doesnt sound like bio issue to me. MameOX reads fine on softmodded and in evolutionX for years running as little as 4971 bios. Also it wouldnt autofind it in evolution X unless it extracted the name from an default.xbe. If your evolution X is set up to scan a folder and its red id agree with Thraxen and say main xbe is wrong (as in compiled wrong or only half there). If path is set in ini in evolution X then the file isnt correct at all and evolution X cant find it.

Please tell me if you delete app from folder does it go away in evolution X menu?

if it does default.xbe is wrong as it would not show up as red if it was valid. Even if it locked up later, that would be an issue with some other file in the program.

Cheers for all the help and advice given so far.

So now I have FBA-XXX running.
Some of the big beat’em ups (Xmen vs Marvel etc) are running fine but I can’t play my favorites like “Liquid Kidz”, “Newzeland Story” and “Bubble Bobble”.
They don't even show up on the roms list.
What gives?

I don't think those games are supported in FBAXXX.  Try MAMEoX.

Yes I've had Samba drop some data when transferring to XBox myself...seems to happen with the XBox sometimes regardless of which dash I'm using.

Would a newer version of Xenium OS sort that out?
