Help, I can't seem to launch Surreal64. I did follow the tutorial on where to place the files. Here is how I placed them.

In E:/Emulators I got

Hmmm... you seem to have gone wrong here.  For example, what is that folder you have in there?  That shouldn't be there.  Also, don't put anything on E:\TDATA... put the Surreal.ini file back with the rest of the files.  The emulator may make a copy of the ini file on E:, but it will do that on its own, you don't need to put it there yourself.

Just delete everything and start over from where you have your original compressed emulator package.

OK, so what dashboard are you using?  If you want to place the emulator in E:\Emulators\ then you need to make sure the dashboard knows to look there for applications.  Also, don't dump everything into Emulators folder, each emulator needs to be in its own sub folder... like this:

E:\Emulators\Surreal\*emulator files go here*

So just unzip/unrar the emulator and dump all the files where I showed above.  You can call the folder inside the Emulators folder anything you want... Surreal, N64, whatever.  The default.xbe file is the file that the XBox launches when you start Surreal (or pretty much any XBox app).  So if you put everything on there correctly it should be located here:

E:\Emulators\Surreal\default.xbe

Now, if your dashboard is already set-up to find apps in E:\Emulators\ then Surreal should appear in your Emulators\Games\Apps...  or whatever menu(s) your dashboard is set-up to use.  If it's not in any of your application menus then we can fix that, but we need to know what dashboard you are using.

OK, so you have EvoX as your dashboard.  Can you FTP into your XBox?  If so, then you need to find a file called "evox.ini".  It's probably on your C: or E: drive.  Copy that to your PC and open it up in a text editor like Wordpad or Notepad.  There should be a section called "Launch Menu" near the bottom.  By default it looks like this:

It should look similar to that, though it may be a bit different depending on who did the mod or what auto-installer you used.  The lines that say "Section" are what appear on the Evox main menu and the lines that say "AutoAddItem" define where EvoX looks for applications for those sections.  If you want a section for Emulators on your main menu you can add a section for them like this:

I bolded the new section.  You can leave off the line for F: if you are using a stock XBox hard drive and don't have an F: drive.  That should add a section called "Emulators" to your EvoX dashboard and any emulator you install in E:\emulators\ should appear there.  

Or, if you don't want a section for just emulators or don't want to edit the ini file try installing the emulator to E:\apps\ or E:\games\ and see if it appears in those sections of your EvoX dashboard.

Yeah, put a folder inside the Emulators folder, call it whatever you want (Surreal64 is fine), and then put all the Surreal files in that folder.  As for your second question, that was the whole point of me posting that information about the evox.ini.  I was telling you how to make sure that Evox finds the emulator there.

I got the xbox to read the emulator. But when I select Surreal64 FDB, the evolution logo comes on and the nothing happens. I have left the xbox on for hours on end and nothing happens. What the problem.

List all the files and folder you have in the main Surreal folder... I just want to make sure you have everything there you need.

Do you have XBMC or any other dashboard loaded as an app (Avalaunch, UnleashX, etc...)?  If so, you may want to try launching one of those and then launching Surreal from one of those to see if maybe it's just and EvoX issue.

I hope you know to not put an archived file into the Xbox as an emulator. If you're gonna put an emulator in the Xbox, extract the WHOLE archive into a seperate plain folder, then put that folder into the Xbox emulator section.

Also, the emulator SHOULD already have a ROMs directory, if it doesn't, make one yourself. All you gots to do is go into the folder (from your computer) and the same folder that has the default.xbe is the folder that you place the ROMs directory. I'm sure there's other folders you can do this with, but that's what I always do and it always works like a charm.
