Anyone use the IDE cable swap mod where you use an uncut ata 100 cable? I have read on a few sites that this improves game load times. But doesnt the game stream right from the disc?

ANd what is an uncut ide cable?

most people who mod their xboxes play the game from the hard drive, not the dvd-drive. an uncut ata-100 cable is just a normal hard drive ribbon cable. the xbox hard drive and the motherboard support ata-100 but the cable is only ata-33 from the factory.....ata-100 is much faster

An "uncut" ATA/66+ cable is one that does not have a small cut-out near the motherboard-connecting end.

Most of these cables have a small, about 1/2cm cut (forgot on what pin). If you encounter that situation, find another cable... You want a cable that does not have any piece missing.

Oh, and beware: these cables are much stiffer than your normal 40-pin cable. Prefold them as much as you can. If you don't, it can disalign your modchip (if solderless), or put excess pressure down on the chip and possibly bend the header pins if installed that way)
