Roms should be zipped. (not RAR'ed or 7z'ed, plain ole ZIP)
Start with smaller roms that are known to work on a machine like the xbox.
(ie, don't try Area 51, start with something like Frogger)

FTP roms to your emulator directory\roms

You may need to do a "scan for new roms" from the menu if they don't show up.

Instead of saying "it didn't work" we need to know what happened.  Blank screen?  Error message?  system reboot?

I've had a lot of trouble with mame also, I have working roms, but on xbox when I try to load one it says a bunch of files are missing. Even though I can play the game on PC Mame emulator with the same rom fine.

For example, Metal Slug 1, I have the neogeo file and the working mslug file, but it says files are missing.

Anyone have any idea why it would be acting up like that? I've tried 100's of little tiny MAME games also, and like 90% of them are missing files according to xbox, but all work great on PC.

also when I tried moving the roms over to the Mame folder, only Punisher showed up, but it worked.

Reasons:

1. The most current mame emu's for xbox are based on a .84 rom set. I doubt this is the version you are using on your comp as it is quite old. YES - even on your comp one romset will have changes in the next version of mame making some of the unusable in that version.

2. Even if you do get a.84 set put together, I wouldnt count on them all working, as the xbox isn't powerfull enough for all of them.

Bottom line - Just because the mame rom works on you comp, does not mean it will work on the xbox, even when using the proper rom set.
