I wanted to start this topic for people that have problems with Surreal Beta 2.  My main issue is i cant even get the app to launch, it freezes everytime i try to load surreal it freezes, anyone have this problem or know a way to fix this issue?

yes, you have to set the ROM and Media path correctly. And this means the full path (teh D:\Media and D:\Roms paths don't work).

i can't seem to save settings. tried deleting old save as well and resetting everything. even editing the .ini directly with no luck. i have a 128MB ram upgrade so when i tried to increase the video memory settings, i noticed this. controller settings aren't saved too...no settings are. everytime i launch it, default settings are present. is it something i'm doing wrong? i'm just stumped right now.

i'd like to make  suggestion for future versions regarding this:
to make surreal read the surreal.ini config file directly from it's directory and not from a save folder it creates in UDATA. when it saves settings, it would save directly to that file as well and read all setting from there. i hate how it currently works and it wouldn't suprise me if i wasn't the only one. i'm not aware of a technical limitation which limits function to how it currently is but if there is such a thing, please explain it.

overall, the emulator is great though.

sweet man thanks alot yeah that was my problem i fixed that issue now, another question before in surreal it would tell you the recommended Emu for that rom, is this option still around? If so how do i go about getting to it

and you are sure that you have some roms in the folder you pointed to? If so, try dexbe (got that tip from someone else! I can't be held responsible!) to patch the xbe's

It seems that Surreal XXX saves all its .ini files in folders in the root directory rather than its TDATA folder. This means that if run from disc, no settings are saved.

Since the .ini files are all edited from within the emu itself, there is no real reason why it needs to be this way and surely it would be better to have both disc and HDD properly supported like Surreal v1.0.

I've compiled my own build that fixes this problem but I don't want to waste time releasing an XBE patch if it's going to be addressed in the next release. Please let me know.

can you make Surreal XXXbeta 2 make to save the Romlist somewhere? because it always takes aprx. 2 minutes until it has scanned all my roms from my DVD-R

yep, I didn t do it here as some ppl wanted it hard, it is not yet finished, I ll do a verification on boot to see if we are on cd or HD and arrange the rest accordinately (will be done in fbaxxx too).

That isn't necessary. Just use T:\\ instead of D:\\ for ini files then it will work for both disc and HDD.

For some reason, controller port 3 can't be enabled, though the others work fine.

in pokemon stadium 2, the previously working 3rd and 4th controllers aren't recognised, even if the 4th controller has been enabled in the controller settings.

Other than that, great emulator

I can confirm that 3rd controller port bug.

Also it'd be nice if you could adjust the way the menu's behave when toggling an option with multiple possible values, the best example is the analog sensitivity, you ought to be able to press something to go back a value and not just forward, because otherwise if you go too high by accident you have to press A at least 19 times to fix it.

thats just retarded I'm sure we can all agree.

can I suggest B or X toggle backwards through options.
