Since this presents a standard XBox-compatible ROM naming system...does there exist a set of screenshots named according to the GoodGUI standards?  So that all your screenshot-compatible emus would have a screenshot in your ROM lists without having to manually start each game / snap a shot, for instance.

Has the feature to move one's ROMs automatically to different directories based on their classification been removed?  Because no matter what I do they're all moved to the same director, *Ren.

Nope.  They all get moved to the *Ren directory, but they should be divided into a bunch of sub-directories inside the *Ren folder.  Are you using the "dirs" command.  I don't use GoodGUI, I just use a command window... but if I was, for example, going to properly name and divided my NES ROMS I would use the commands "goodnes rename dirs" or "goodnes rename forcexbox dirs".

Yeah the rename and dirs commands just send them all, unsorted, to the *Ren folder.  There is no creation of subdirectories.  Just like doing the same with the GUI.

I don't know what the issue could be then.  I just use the "dirs" command and they are sorted into sub-folders just like you would expect.

The problem has been solved...I now unzip the required GoodXXX tool directly to the ROMs folder I wish to work with and utilize the command prompt from within there.  It seems to have problems creating the subdirectories if employed any other way, be it GUI or prompt.

OK... I've always run it from the ROMS folder so that's why I've never encountered the issue you were describing.

Yes people may wish to be aware that they could encounter some difficulties if the EXE is in a different folder than their ROMs, such as described in the initial tutorial in the thread.

You must be in the roms folder from the command prompt and then run your command calling the goodutil from whatever directory it may be in. e.g.

D:\Roms\Atari 2600>"D:\Rom Utils\Good Utils\Good2600" rename dirs

Hope this helps...

Yes and doing it that way will cause it to fail to create subdirectories in your *Ren folder where your renamed ROMs will be placed.

I'm guessing you don't have a goodinfo.cfg file in the same directory as your exe file; that's why it's not creating your subdirs.
