hmm,very strange..
what bios are you using ?
and what dashboard are you using ?
Have you tried to patch the *.xbe ?

Maybe other users had the same problem some time ago.
Have you done a search yet ?

p.s. you don't need the v3 src folder....

I just DLed version 3, I did have version 1 working on my system.

I left everything in the same directory structure as in the Archive and removed version 1 from the system.

I also made sure that the ini file reflected the proper directory stucture:

[Settings]
Rom Path=F:\Emulators\Surreal64 FDB v3\Roms\
Media Path=F:\Emulators\Surreal64 FDB v3\

I am running the Avalaunch Dashboard
The bios is the Xenium Ice

And I have not even attempted to patch the xbe.

All I get is launching and nothing else comes up.

Anything else I can try to get this to work?

Thanks,

Rob

I swear I'm about to lose it.  I may well be an idiot, but I visited "the usual places" as well as FDs site.  I can't find a DL link amongst them.  And yes, I read before I posted.  If I missed the obvious let's just chalk it up to retardation.  You wouldn't refuse help to a retarded old man, would you?

1. www.mirc.com download mIRC
2. when you load it up join a EFNET server
3. type /j #xbins at the bottom of the screen.
4. Download surreal

@Charlemagne
try these values :
2050
0.24
0.25

Thanks dave.

Those values definitely made a difference.  One thing I noticed though is that the crosshair (I'm playing Goldeneye btw) tends to "stick" to one side of the screen if I look all the way over.  (By that I mean even when I let go of the thumbstick and it centers itself, the crosshair on the screen stays on the side and makes me look around in circles).  Is this a problem with my setup or anything.  It does it for both my original MS controller (the old big one) and my Eclipse controller.

Is there any way to fix the graphical glitches on Mario Golf? it's a wicked game and my g/f loves it but I'd like to fix them up just to make it that bit better.

hey freakdave, just wanted to say what a great difference your changes have made.  At first, I didnt notice any difference with the flicker filter becuase my tv was old.  Now on my new flatscreen it would be painful without it!
And the stick adjusting, it's great too!
Now these new rendering options are awesome!  I especially like the Anisotropic filtering.  I don't think it even slows down the game at all!
But I noticed the changes more on UHLE than Emu64 (I guess that means 1964+PJ64?).
and here are my settings:
CODE

Default UHLE Vertex Processing Mode=1
Default UHLE Texturefilter=3
Default EMU64 Vertex Processing Mode=1
Default EMU64 Texturefilter=3

One question: Which filter, in your opinion, looks the most like the original N64 ?

thx

No

Anyway i just want to say thanks freakdave, I have found my Nintendo 64 again and played some mario kart on it and I have to say that it's a pain in the Ass to play mario kart the Nintendo 64 way! It's really hard to see things like that red thing (player seeking shell???) on a real N64 but it looks so clear, so great on Surreal 64 FDB! It's like the difference between playing a game withouth glases and with!

Not to forgot the crystal clear 5.1 sound that the Xbox brings!

I hope you keep on developing (maybe merge this with the surreal 2.0 sources?) biggrin.gif

WOW!  I'm impressed.  Originally I was just going to wait and hold off on N64 Emulation until surreal 2 came out but I decided to get this Emulator anyways and see what all the hype was about and I must say I'm very impressed with the changes you've made to the 1.0 source!  Keep this up and we won't even need 2.0 tongue.gif!

it is still possible to hook a N64 up the same way for audio.  Although you are getting 5.1 sound, it is not TRUE 5.1 channels.  It is mererly 2 channel stereo, which is projected to Front-left, Rear-left (LEFT channel), Front-Right, Rear Right (RIGHT channel) and if you are getting any bass from the subwoofer it is probably a combination of the two's low frequency output, being seperated inside of the amplifier.
Not that stereo sound is such a bad thing (it may sound great even!) but you can only work with what you have, and the nintendo 64 that is being emulated only had left and right channels...like the old saying, Garbage In, Garbage Out.

to reiterate my last question for FD wink.gif:
Which filter, in your opinion, looks the most like the original N64 ?
and...
How did you take screenshots?

ps. omg did it really look this shitty before?!

1st question:
Flicker Filter 5
SoftDisplayFilter on
Linear filtering (default)
And spectacles with thick (bullet-proof) glasses. You can't get it blurrier i think  laugh.gif

The screenies were taken with the XDK,but it should also be possible to take them with XBOX image grabber.

And yes,you were right,EMU64 = PJ64 and 1964

Never mind looking like the original, which settings look the best? wink.gif

Anything that makes Goldeneye playable on the Xbox is officially A Good Thing. Top work.

IMO:
CODE

FlickerFilter=1
SoftDisplay=0
Default UHLE Vertex Processing Mode=1
Default UHLE Texturefilter=3
Default EMU64 Vertex Processing Mode=1
Default EMU64 Texturefilter=3

This way looks like a shiny new coin!  love.gif
