and hey conker dont work pretty well in surreal 1.0

but in the other cvs release conker worked with skippy sound but it definetly worked better than surreal 1.0 (all the other games sucked in the cvs)

anyway to make it work like the cvs...only conker maybe?

I think that was only because of the new video plugin.
Wasn't that "version" buggy?
..Where did you get it anyways?

Chips - that version was pure pants, don't bother with it. It was a http:// download somewhere off the net (can't remember where and I've deleted the ZIP now anyway) and it was defintely a step backwards from 1.0 in terms of the games I tried (never used Conkers).

Hopefully this independent action will spur oDD and Lantus into releasing something for us instead of just sitting on the code and laughing like xbox-scene versions of Skeletor.

For those of you who don't know who Skeletor is here is a picture of the dastardly villian in a slightly camp pose:

The CVS is based on a newer plugin. In order to get Conker running i'd have to incorporate the gfx plugin from the CVS and make sure that all other games run as before ( i think this is impossible) and besides, such a task is definately beyond my coding skills(if any  laugh.gif  ).Nevertheless,i'm trying to do my best to improve Surreal64...

Could you turn on the 128 mode? Plllllleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssseeeeeeeee

i don't know if i can.but i think the authors knew why they didn't 'activate' the 128 mode.Seems like you'll have to wait for Surreal 2.0  wink.gif

Care to elaborate? They always went along the "it was an oversight on our part as the code is there and in place but just needs to be activated" spiel.

Is this not the case? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH I need 128 support.

this is why 128MB support has low priority for me.

ps. you don't need 128 support.  Lantus tested it with his current build and said it only helped Perfect Dark.  Just play it on PC for crying out loud.
pss. FD, it looks like you've made some great new changes!
Looking forward to the 4 player bond parties with steady shooting! wink.gif

To add...

If that is not the case and there is some big conspiracy (of Skeletor sized proportions) that you have uncovered in the code then please share. I have my tin foil hat with coat hangers at the ready (actually I wear it all the time, just in case because you never know).

The main reason for me wanting to use my full 128 is because a) I have it so why not and cool.gif I want to see how some titles fare with extra memory and c) Perfect Darkness.

Either way - kudos on the work you are putting in, it is appreciated and I'm quite sure you have now became the patron saint of xb-s and calmed all the salivating dogs who were within an inch of biting each other in a feral display of anger due to the lack of Surreal updates.

It's a mad world in which we live - or is it my world thats mad?

That quote was in the old BM days....

For those what my acronym stands for it means Before Memory (upgrade) days. I would have said BMU but then some of you might have made bumming jokes and I just couldn't take that today. I (along with another member) have offered freakdave a free memory upgrade (that reminds me - you haven't contacted me regarding it yet, give me a shout please).

Back on track (but still off the rails) - I have a prehistoric PC, it runs Ye Olde Windoes 95 (thats 1795) and is powered by stream. This kind of prevents me from emulating anything which means I have to place all my chips on the Xbox in the roulette table that is emulation.

Also, my Xbox has a slow HD which causes some games to stutter slightly as Surreal accesses the HD (I can tell because the access light flickers at the stutter points) - I'm hoping that the 128 support will prevent this as the whole file will be in memory. And yes, this occurs on the smaller (Mario Kart 64 etc..) ROMs as well.

So please Mr Chips, do stop crying out loud. I'm sure those big boys will give you your ball back and it will all be better again.

Chin up, old chap.

I also would like 128 support..but the sooner the stick is fixed the better.  That was on the top of my list.
If fd says he doesn't want to work on that atm, well that means he will probably take a look at it in the future.
You can only hope right now, buddy.  Begging will get you a timeout or detention (ie. no recess tongue.gif)

Whilst I agree with you about the stick (Goldeneye plays like James has been ingesting massive quantities of caffiene) for the games I play (and the fact that I have the damn upgrade) 128 support is a must.

Strange isn't it that its supported on the crappest emulator (Project 64 if I'm correct) and not on the one that plays everything perfectly....

This is probably my only major gripe - if it worked I wouldn't be that bothered about Surreal V2.0, Skeletor and Skeletor could keep it amongst themselves as a private joke if they wished. I mainly want to see it in action just too see if the HD access thing stops.

Damn my curiosity and obsessive personality type - but hey, if you've got it you may as well use it.

And use it I am.

Here is a picture of Janice from The Sopranos, I'm sure you will agree that she is one annoying twat - infer what you may wink.gif

Well, today is my birthday and i've made myself a little birthday present.
And since i share my presents with the public,i'm proud to release Surreal64_FDB(freakdave's birthday release).
It lets you change the flicker filter value of Surreal64,e.g. turning the flicker filter off results in a ultrasharp and crisp picture.
Blurryness is no more :-)

The flicker filter value can be changed in the config file ('flicker.cfg')

Zelda,Mario,Starfox.All games look awesome now.
Heck, even the blurry Banjo-Kazooie looks almost like a Dreamcast game now !
All the XBOX-blurryness is simply gone.

An option to resize the screen will probably follow in a later release(I hope v2.0 is out until then)

Note : This is still Surreal v1.0 !
Misc : Source code is included

Have fun with this one smile.gif

LMAO... Sept. 17th was my brother-in-laws birthday.  wink.gif

At last, an intelligent thread about Surreal that shows some positive and intruiging information....

.......So, Skeletor finally admits that he doesn't mind some "Thunder-punch He-man" action, huh?

It's about time he brought his skeleton out of the closet.

:cough:

FreakDave, love your work.

I've just released Surreal64_FDB_v2 !

About Surreal64_FDB
---------------------------------
This is a modified version (FDB = freakdave's birthday release) of Surreal64 v1.0.

Changelog
-----------------
* Changed: Slightly modified background image
* Changed: You don't need the 'flicker.cfg' anymore. All settings (including Flicker Filter) are now loaded through 'Surreal.ini'
* Added: Soft Display Filter ( 0 = disabled / 1 = enabled )
* Added: 3 values to let you change/tweak the sensitivity of the thumbsticks via 'Surreal.ini'

Misc
-------
* Full sourcecode is included

Sensitivity FAQ
------------------------
There are 3 values in 'Surreal.ini' which you can adjust.Surreal's default values are :
Default NPad Deadzone=8000
Default XPad Deadzone=0.24
Default XPad Summand=0.5

Default NPad Deadzone:
The lower the value of the deadzone, the more sensitive are your thumbsticks.
My advise is to start adjusting this value first. For 'fine-tuning' use the XPad Deadzone value.
Use 500 if you want a very sensitive thumbstick.
My favorite value is : 12000

Default XPad Deadzone:
The lower the value of the deadzone, the more sensitive are your thumbsticks.
Use it for fine-tuning only.
My favorite value is : 0.34

Default XPad Summand:
Use this value with care.Try 4.0 and you'll see the difference.
My favorite value is : 0.25

If you think you've found a decent value for a certain game, then share it on the X-S Emulation forums please.

Misc:
Don't try to change the values XOffset,YOffset,XStretch and YStretch,as they won't work in this release.
DO NOT DELETE THEM THOUGH !
