QUOTE (k6irk @ Oct 17 2004, 06:20 AM)
I just DLed version 3, I did have version 1 working on my system.

I left everything in the same directory structure as in the Archive and removed version 1 from the system.

I also made sure that the ini file reflected the proper directory stucture:

[Settings]
Rom Path=F:\Emulators\Surreal64 FDB v3\Roms\
Media Path=F:\Emulators\Surreal64 FDB v3\

I am running the Avalaunch Dashboard
The bios is the Xenium Ice

And I have not even attempted to patch the xbe.

All I get is launching and nothing else comes up.

Anything else I can try to get this to work?

Thanks,

Rob

Anyone have a suggestion why mine will not load.

I placed all the info requested in my original message, but I am still stumpted.

Any help on this will be great.

Thanks,

Rob

Try just having D:\media and D:\roms
Then delete the save in the MS dash.

Just FYI,
in most (if not all) emulators D:\ represents the directory that the emulator's xbe is in (eg. E:\Surreal\default.xbe to the emulator is D:\default.xbe). A:\ is usually then the DVD-Rom. Many emulators also don't like it when the rom path is changed from D:\

Hey I have the Surreal64 V3.0 version and I'm having a problem with the control stick taking control of itself. It'll move even though I'm not even touching it. Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried changing some of the sensitivity settings, has anyone had a similar problem? What are your control stick settings? It's just kind of annoying with the cursor moving in a direction when I'm trying to play smile.gif thanks for your help!

nope, the compatibility thread(maintained by DeathX) is,AFAIK, for all N64 roms (if tested)

It didn't lose anything at all.Compatibility should still be the same.
The main features of Surreal64 FDB :
- You now have the possibility to change the Flicker Filter (for a sharper/crisper picture) and the Soft Display Filter
- You now have the possibility to change the sensitivity of the thumbsticks

And there are still some things to come smile.gif
If that isn't an improvement...

leute ich kannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn eure sprache nicht -- aber ist nicht schlimm oder?

egal jedenfalls lade ich mir  das jetzt runter. muhaha.gif

The CVS has not been stabalized in quite sometime. It has not been updated either. Anything compiled from the CVS (if you even figure out how to fix the errors that currently prevent you from compiling) is pointless, as it is inferior to 1.0 in regards to stability.

Just for your interest:
I've managed to fix the errors which prevented you from compiling the current CVS.Well, unfortunately this build doesn't work at all (didn't expect anything else anyway).Loading roms with the default setting (Rice's 5.60) results in a black screen of death(no activity whatsoever).Any other setting(older plugins) kicks you back into the dashboard.Seems like that's the end of the matter...

Hey FD.  I was just wondering if you have any ideas as to why the starcraft rom will not work with surreal.  It works in pj64 on my pc but won't even show a title screen on my xbox.  It would be very nice not to have to lug around my 64 just to play starcraft when i could lug around just my xbox.  I'm hoping that a new official version will come out soon with starcraft working unless you would be kind enough to look  the situation over, and see if you could do anything about it.  my email is [email protected]  or just PM me.  Thanx.

so... does this mean that I must burn a compilation of compatable 64 ROMS on a DVD (my damn philps dont read CDR's), along with the Sureal application (suggested), so that the program will correctly 'see' the ROMS, and thus make Sureal playable.. because, as you can aquire by this post, it does not recognize any ROMs via my HD.
Although, Project 64 seems to work pretty good running on its own by playing these very same exact ROMs placed on the HD.

so...
Before I collect all of these ROM's and burn a comp on DVD, are you sure this is the only solution to get this emulator working on my box?

I think the coolest thing would be to implement a new versions of the emulators and plugins, so games like Pilotwings 64, Bomberman 64, and Conker, would work. I think that would be the best!

I would help, but I'm still trying to learn C++ and SDL.

This is a great emulator, dave. Thanks. Any chance of adding the ability to take screenshots?

Hey dave thanks for the hard work buddy and for anyone have trouble with surreal not loading the roms and you have the correct rom path try going into your game saves and deleting the surreal game save then restart your surreal emu and that has worked for a lot of people who are have ing trouble with recognizing roms

Hey, guys. Hope you don't mind me resurrecting this old topic. I just really love Goldeneye on the N64 and since the N64's analogue sticks usually wear out in a few months, the XBox is the only way I can play my favourite game now.

I wonder if that Freaky Dave guy is even still working on Surreal 64 FDB, but what the hell...

I've messed around with the surreal.ini file to try n' get Goldeneye playable with the XBox's hyper-sensitive sticks but I can't. From what I've gathered, the options in the .ini file don't actually affect analogue sensitivity.

Altering the 'Npad Deadzone' value just seems to affect how far you have to push the sticks to get a response. I have the other two values at '0.0' but the sticks are still way too sensitive.

I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it so that I could alter the speed at which the sticks moved... if you get what I mean. Like in most XBox first person shooters, lowering the sensitivity on the sticks to the lowest point makes moving the player in-game very slow, which makes trying to aim much easier.

Is there any chance of this type of option be integrated into Surreal 64 FDB in future?

* Fixed: Lockup if there was no fdb.ini (former Surreal-xxx.ini) in the directory
* Fixed: Removed Vertex mode option from the Video Menu
* Fixed: Some typos in the Video Menu
* Fixed: Minor code cleanups

Misc
-------
* Full sourcecode is included

FAQ (updated)
------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do i change Surreal's Vertex Processing Mode?
A: Open fdb.ini and search for VertexMode:
Valid modes are :
0 = Pure Device (don't use this setting unless you know what you're doing. Not recommended)
1 = Software Vertex Processing (this is Surreal's default setting.Recommended)
2 = Hardware Vertex Processing (games may run faster and even better with this setting, but it may also cause graphical glitches in certain games. Not recommended)
3 = Mixed Vertex Processing (specifies mixed (both software and hardware) vertex processing. Not recommended)

Q: How do i change the Texture Filter for PJ64/1964/UltraXLE
A: Start a game and push the right thumbstick.
Go into Settings Menu, highlight Texture Filter and press (A)
Valid modes are :
1 = Point Filtering (Fast but low quality. Looks like on a Nintendo DS or PS1)
2 = Linear Filtering (Surreal's default setting)
3 = Anisotropic Filtering (Slower but better quality. My favorite btw;))
4 = Quincunx Filtering (Cubic Filter mode.Looks similar to Point Filter mode)
5 = Gaussian-Cubic Filtering (Cubic Filter mode with a different cubic kernel)

Q: How do i change the Sensitivity for the Analogue sticks ?
A: Start a game and push the right thumbstick.
Go into Settings Menu, highlight Sensitivity in % and press (A)
0% = Surreal64's default value (8000)
100% = Maximum sensitivity
A value of 60% worked fine for me in most cases.

You can also change these settings in fdb.ini

If you have any problems with this build, feel free to post them here...
