Has Anybody Got Leisure Suit Larry 1 Vga Working?
« on: September 14, 2004, 12:28:00 PM »

Has anyone got the VGA version of Leisure Suit Larry running on Xbox?  I've tried Dosxbox and all I got was a black screen.  If anybody knows how any help would be appreciated.

Twas a joking reference to the old Amiga days and the "joy" of perpetual disc swapping for us adventure junkies (Monkey Island anyone?).

Well I tried out the Amiga version of part 1 and 5, they just didn't cut it.  UAE runs it slow and if you use the fast .xbe then it will only load the game if only put in 3 floppies.  BUT, after messing around with dosxbox today I did get the dos version to run decently minus music skipping.  Just run it in DPMI, type install, turn the mouse support off and sound to adlib, then type "sierra" and it will run but you need to go to the options and turn the detail down and the speed up.  At least I can now somewhat play Leisure Suit Larry on my Xbox, I wonder how part 5 runs.  Probably slow as hell.

There is a sierra interpretor on xbins, but it requires a keyboard.

I found a GBA rom called GBAGI. There is a premade rom as well
It has in it:
Space Quest 1+2+Lost Chapter, Police Quest,
King“s Qust 1+2+3+4, Leisure Suit Larry,
Manhunter 1+2, Mixed Up Mother Goose, Gold Rush
The Black Cauldron, Donald Duck's Playground

hitting a button brings up a list of commands. I ran police quest no problem in VisualBoyAdvance on windows, will try on the xbox tonight.

It doesn't have the only game I really want, Hero's Quest (Quest for Glory).  It does have an injector to add your own games. I guess I can make a trip to the parents attic and see if I can find my orriginal disks. that would be awesome!!!!!!!!
(oops, just read quest for glory is a SCI game, so this program won't work. Guess I need to get a keyboard for the xbox)

I found a GBA rom called GBAGI. There is a premade rom if you search for Advance-Power, I think its even legal

It contains copyrighted games, how could it be legal?

the only legal games in there are The Black Cauldron, Donald Duck's Playground, and that HomeMade SQ0 game.

the rest is all considered warez.

May i also note that that Space Quest 0 fangame is not legal,
its called copyright infringement.

makes me wonder if Sierra just doesnt give a damn or that those
Chrono Trigger Remake guys should have just called their project "Chrono Trigger Zer0"

now on to the next chapter of "who gives a fuck"
