Light Gun Compatibility Thread

yeah i know thats how they work ,  its just well youd have to see it , im sure it will get better when the emulator is optimized for lightguns  and the different games algorithm for there light guns ,

seems to linger to long, the white flash i mean . because on auto(holding the trigger down,) itl flash once and keep shooting like the guns in terminator 2 and beastbusters  the gun will update its position every second without the flash, leading to mostly playable without being blinding ,  pull the flash out  and itll update  every time you pull the trigger , using the brightness on the screen ,  so it will still work ,  which is what its doing already when you hold it down ,

needs more speed  its obvious its not done yet with some of the background items in the forground- in front of the monster- but  its looking damn good

for my own information ,  is the b3 of mamestill  being worked on for light game support?

After reading this thread and not being able to decide which gun to buy I just went out and bought the first available gun. It was a joytech sharp shooter:
http://www.whitedog....products_id=340

works fine with duck hunt on the FCEUltraX together with my 60 hertz tv
http://xport.xbox-sc...om/fceultra.php

But be sure to calibrate your gun by choosing configuration> configure controllers and > configure light gun before you select the game every time!, since the emulator does not seem to remember the calibration (at least on my box).

Also when you select the game for the first time you need to configure the game to support the Zapper controller on a specified port. You will get an option screen after selecting the game where you can do this.... (choose zapper enabled = yes, or something like that, and in my case i chose 'port 2' since i had connected the thing to the second port on my box)

Happy shooting!

Okay, using FCEUltra V16 (latest I believe)
MadKatz Blaster
27" Zenith CRT TV 60HZ NTSC

Works to calibrate and surf menus but won't work in-game.
I can get ahold of the Pelican Silent Scope Gun (used but not abused) would that be any better?

Yeah I was thinking about that.  The thing that pisses me off is that I know the sucker can work, can surf calibrate ect. just fine but the damn thing just won't fire in-game.  I really got this for the NES games, I could care less about the XBOX ones but at least it lets me narrow down the problem.

Well, I just picked up HOTD3 and the lightgun works perfectly with it.  I tried re-installing fceUltra (the latest version) again to see if that helped but I am still having the same problem.  I'm fresh out of ideas here.

Okay, I got it all sorted out now.  I went down and exchange the gun today at ebgames for another one.  I got it back home and hooked it up and it still had the same damn problem.  So I got to thinking that I was just going to have to resign myself to playing HOTD3.  Then I decided to delete my current wild gunman and duckhunt roms and try re-downloading them.  So I did that and then when I started up the game, I was now presented with the option to enable the zapper gun and which port it was in.  So I selected Enable with port #2 and it works great now.  So for those of you who may have problems in the future make absolutely sure that you not only calibrate the gun but that the first time you load up a rom where you want to use it, that you enable the Zapper in the proper port.  I never bothered enabling the Zapper the first time around because I didn't have the gun and I just wanted to test out the roms to see if they even loaded up.
On the brightside I got a brand new controller.  rolleyes.gif

So once again:

MadKatz Blaster
Fce UltraX V16
27" Zenith CRT NTSC TV @60HZ

All working when properly configured with DuckHunt and Wild Gunman

Mad Catz Blaster
47" Panasonic 47WX53 (rear projection HDTV)
High Definition Pack

Tried House of the Dead 3 and goes nuts during calibration.

Do you think it may make a difference if I use the standard pack (using either S-video or RCA cables) instead of the High Definition Pack?

Do you happen to have the auto-reload or the rapid fire on during the calibration?  That will make it go nuts.  Also what hz rate is your TV?

Yeah I pretty tried every setting (auto fire turned on/off auto reload on/off).  I ended up returning it.  It worked fine on a tube TV though.  Lesson learned.  Thanks.

All I want is a gun that will work with Duck Hunt and House of the Dead. I have a Mitsubishi HDTV with the High Def pack but will switch to the standard RCA's if required to play with a light gun. Could anyone tell me what will definetly work with these 2 games?
