This topic is designed to help people that are having problems with emulators. The forums are getting too crowded with "Why is this not working?" or the notorius "My Roms Aren't Showing Up/Working In Surreal!" Well, this is here to take care of that. For those of you who have problems with Emulators, this is your messiah. Also, If your emulator is not on this list, be patient. If your sick of being patient, just request it.
HINT:Try using Ctrl+F to find the Emulator
Ok So lets get started:
Surreal 64 v1.0
N64 Emulator
General
This seems to be the one most people complain about so I'll put it first. Considering how powerful the Xbox truly is, the Emulator does a great job of using as much power as it can to make the games run as accurate as they do. Plus since there are three emulators in one, compatibility isn't that much of an issue.
Setting It Up
As hard as most people find it to set this emulator up, it's actually a piece of cake as long as you can follow directions.
1)Extract the archive to some folder on your PC
2)Open up surreal.ini and change the rom path to the EXACT location where your roms are going to be. If you are going to put your roms in E:\Roms then type E:\Roms. Save the ini.
3)Copy the Surreal64 files over to your Xbox somewhere Ex - E:\Emulators\Surreal64
4)The next step is to put the roms into the folder that you defined in the ini file. If you typed E:\Roms in your ini files, that make a folder on your E:\ drive called Roms and put them in there. I personally Extract them first but I believe Surreal64 also runs them if they're zipped.
5)Run default.xbe in the Surreal64 folder. When it loads, click the little circular arrow (refresh) on the right side.
6)Have Fun!
I also recommend recommend going to my other topic, , so you can configure your roms to run optimal.
Still having a problem? Let's look at this FAQ:
Q)Roms still aren't showing up!
A)This can be one of two things. One, your ran Surreal64 BEFORE editing the ini file. This means it put a new in a folder called a64fea57 in the TDATA folder in E:\. Delete this folder, edit the surreal.ini in your Surreal64 folder (wherever you put it) and then save the ini and run again. Make sure the Rom path is the folder you put your roms in. Also, you may have downloaded the wrong version. The one you want is called Surreal 1.0. Nothing more nothing less. If all else fails, try downloading it from xbins again.
Q)Roms run like crap or not at all. How can I fix this?
A)Check out the Surreal 64 Compatibility List and make sure your rom is compatible. If it is, then check out my Surreal 64 Performace Settings Thread and change your settings to the the ones on the list.
XSnes9X
SNES Emulator
General
A very good Super Nintendo emulator. Very accurate and extremely easy to use.
Setting It Up
Wow, I don't know how I would explain this. Hmmm, lets see. You put the Roms in a folder called roms in the XSnes9X folder and then you run the default.xbe and Walla, there they are. Most people don't want to change the controller settings as they are set up to be just like the ones on a normal SNES. Press Start while in the Roms list to get to the menu and change Misc. Settings. There aren't any there that can screw you up besdies maybe the Rom Options (HiRom, LoRom, Forcing things isn't good unless you know what you're doing). So, yeah. That all for getting this Emulator to work. Have fun!
XPort's Emulators
FCEUltra
Neo Genesis
PCSXbox
Xboy Advance
etc...
Emulators for all types of things, but they set up the same.
General
XPort makes majority of the Emulators out there. Because of this, he uses the same layout for each emulator simply to make his life and everyone elses easier. This is good, so let me take advantage of it by putting all of his emus into one section J.
Setting Them Up
There are two ways to set XPort's emulators up. You can either run it and then exit and edit the ini files in E:\Saves or you can change the options in the Emulator itself. The ladder is easier to me, but do what you want.
Changing Settings From Within The Emulator:
Go into configuration, general settings then default directories. Use the browser, browse through your folders and when your in the one you want to use press start. Very simple
Changing Settings Manually From The Ini:
Run the emulator then locate the respective ini files in the folder called E:\Saves. Open it with your favorite text editor and look for the directory paths. Where it says rom directory, change the path to your rom directory. If the folder you want to use is IN the emulators directory (the folder is in the same directory as the Emulators default.xbe) you can use the letter D to substitute the path. This means if the emulators folder is E:\Emulators\FCEUltraX\ and there is a folder called Roms inside that folder, instead of typing E:\Emulators\FCEUltraX\Roms\, you could just type D:\Roms.
