well all he did was rewire the nes controller to a male serial plug and modified s controller to add female serial plug to allow it to be plugged and work with the buttons its assigned to.

this is something many ppl do to add other type of controllers to xbox (read the arcade topic thats on page 2 or 3).

if you have the skills to solder, you can pretty much do this yourself as its nothing more then hacking a xbox controller cool.gif

i'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to do it with a USB NES controller.  i'm pretty sure that you could infact do some ghetto rigging of a normal NES controller and an xbox controller though.

hmm, judging from the post above, i'd be interested in making an s controller that i could plug an NES or SNES pad into...  maybe i'll make it ... only time will tell smile.gif

I knwo there is a tutorial for this somewhere, because I've seen it, I think in the tutorial they used a genesis controller but I'm sure it's pretty musch the same concept, you're soldering wires onto the xbox controller board to the up down left right, a, and b buttons so that when they're pressed on the nes controller they send signal through the xbox controller......hopefully I didn't confuse you any more than you already were.... dry.gif

Well if you wired the xbox contacts into a serial connector then you could connect anything Genesis, snes, atari....and just plug it in...

you would have to power the controller...should be easy enough...but then you just run wire from the contacts on the nes to the contacts on the xbox???

you cant uses the wires in the nes wire because they use strobing...

Looks like another long night of soldering:D

From what I've researched you could use a 9pin serial and it would be able to handle the atari Joystick, Nes controller, and SMS controller...

I've already run to radio shack and purchased the necessary junk...

I'll post the pics tomorrow...

Make a tutorial too  wink.gif

I'm gonna have to jump on eBay and pick up two controllers of each system, heh, there goes my paycheck

Edit: Anyone know of any tutorials that allow for analog input so I can hack up my 64 controller?

That genesis hack uses a VGA cable...nice idea...uses a 15 pin connector...

I was thinking that hacking an NES controller is not that bad since they are sold in tons of places for 2 bucks...so I was gonna use a 9 pin so that I wouldn't have to hack the atari, coleco, or master system controllers since they are not so easy to come across...but 9pins are not enough for Genesis or Snes...

A 15 pin VGA cable will allow for any controller to be used with the same xbox controller hack...but then you will have to hack the cord on all the controllers that you plan on using...

I'm thinking I'll stick with the 9pin for tonight...

Thanks for that tutorial Kean
