Mameox Settings File

So, I was playing mame with my brother we were playing track and field, which is a button smasher. While we were playing he managed (in the matter of 1/2 of a second) to access the menu changed the controls to access the menu to nothing and then exit the menu. So now I can't access the menu at all. I need to know were the file is that sets the controls so I can edit it or something so I can access the menu again. I tried to reinstall the same version of mame over top of the old one but it didn't work. Thanks in advance.....

You only need open the MSDashboard (The Dashboard that coming with your Xbox), enter in the memory thing and delete the MameOX savefile that appears there.

When that happened to me I had to delete a folder which name was just some numbers It tells you which in the readme or faq which should be in your mame folder...
Deleting the save slot from the dashboard did not solve the problem for me. deleting the folder did.

All the MameOX configuration are saved in the save file that is in the MSDashboard.
If you delete this file you restart the configuration of the MameOX.
It works always for me. I don't know why not worked for you???

well if you have an aftermarket drive you can't do that
if so get a gamesave manager, i found a nice one since avalaunch doesn't have one built in, you can just delete the file from there.

I also tried that...it didn't work the folder I deleted was....
e:/TDATA/4d414d45/
after I deleted it, It said there was a new version of Mame detected and it scanned for roms again, but went I went into the game and tried to access the menu...no joy

I have had the same problem but have been to lazy to actually attempt to fix it. I tried just erasing the save game for mame but it didn't work for me. I havn't tried doing anything more but I will look into it and when i figure it out I'll post it here. if you get it sorted out first post your results.

Simple enough I just figured it out, I went to the mame directory and then wnet the the cfg folder and erased all of the configuration files in there. One of them is the main config file and thats all you need to erase but I just erased them all because I was to lazy to bother figuring out exactly what to erase but it worked.

Actually, yes you can...Just make sure to lock the hard drive so that you can access the MS Dashboard.
Good Luck.

Man, you write very fast.
I was going to propose delete the cfg files in the general folder of Mame but you post it first.
Anyway, I hope this solve the Kean's problem.
