okay,  now the Dreamcast used 1GB GD-ROM media (correct me if I'm wrong here)

what sort of media is the Chihiro using? certainly not the 1GB discs  as HOTD3 is easily arount 2 gigs [for xbox] give or take a few hundred MB.

is the Chihiro using ~4.7G optical media imprinted with TOC/filesystem conforming to the GDROM protocol?

whats the capacity of Chihiro GDROM discs?

They're probably 1 gig, as the name states, GD-ROM (Gigabyte Data - Read Only Memory).  4.7GB is DVD.

what happened that is worthwhile?

you dumped a gdrom; congrats

look at a stupid ddr machine, the code is layed out exactly like a psx (even has psx.exe)

does it run on psx? nope

even if it were possible to get it to run, the programs would choke with a loss of ram. look at naomi, it's a dreamcast but none of the naomi games work on dc...Arcade units usually have some more balls added to them (hd or in naomi's case cartridge-based with addon gdrom) for storage of the movies or game data for faster access and these modifications usually cause incompatability with the systems...I remain skeptic of them ever working until I see the data and some documentation on the actual hardware.

Grudge House Of The Dead 2 was unlockable in HOTD3 so that might be why the xbox is there

hotd3 is not 2gigs, its actually about 900mb and thats including hotd2 as an unlockable game. so it would fit on a gdrom.
anyway it would be cool if the board could take a faster p3 too.
just think of an xbox with 512mb ram, 1.3ghz p3, and a 72gb ultra fast scsi.
fastest xbox or what? it would make a nice cheap mame machine.  biggrin.gif
but since we  know jack atm, we can only speculate

1) The dreamcast cannot read Cd-rw's...the faction that actually play Cd-rw's are so low that it could stated as cannot read Cd-rw's and I know non of you own one that can and will NEVER own one.

2) They is no TOC file bull sh!t to make any computer cdrom or dvdrom drive read GD Roms not matter what your silly friend told you his friend did. The only way to get the contents of a GD Roms is to use a dreamcast with the broadband adapter or do what some other warez groups did at first and hacked a dreamcast and used custom hardware interface and software to transfer the GD ROMS contents to a pc.

3) How did the starter of the thread get any games that required a greater amount of Ram than the xbox has to run?(if sega programmed a game to load into 128 or any thing great than 64mb and the game does not find the ram it going to give and error and not run)

4)Until I see it I will believe it.

I do give him credit for listing the proper way of getting the GD Rom contents onto his system and would even believe it was dumped by him what I know is that the games did not work and will not work.

This thread should be labeled "MAJOR BULLSH1T".

Chihiro came out before Atomiswave and Sega was developing on the Chihiro before Sammy bought out Sega.

That's true, but why are people still saying that Sega is going to make Chihiro-based games?

Granted, there might be future Chihiro-based games from other developers, but it's something I kinda doubt, especially since Sammy is pushing the Atomiswave like it's nobody's business..

I was tempted the other day to buy an Atomiswave board with Dolphin Blue, but then I'd need a SuperNova and I can't afford it right now.. Plus new games at 300+ dollars... sheesh smile.gif
