« on: September 05, 2004, 11:49:00 PM »

well i dont know where to let this info out so here it is.....

1. many new arcade games are running on the CHihiro hardware wich is an xbox with a gd-rom instead of dvd-rom

http://www.system16....dw_chihiro.html

2.  a good friend just got a new crazy taxi 3 arcade unit....brand new,,,,i thought maybe the file structure on these arcade games would be the same as xbox... (.xbe's)

3. after many attempts at dumping the gd-rom from the arcade machine....we were able to get the 908Megs of info dumped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SURPRISE!!!!  it has default.xbe

its just an xbox game !!!!

made x-iso with Q-wix....and booted straight up!!!!!!

i will be doing screenshots of my arcade machine running the arcade version of crazy taxy III as soon as my friend gets home....

THIS IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

says the specs of the chiwhatever runs on a p 733 mhz.

so for some newer games that will be coming out, there's no guarantee that you could run it on your xbox anyway.

the funny thing is that in the crazy taxi III dump ...they have "back" button as coin button....lol....just like mame....it uses the triggers and d-pad just like the retail xbox version does....plays fine from hdd\avalaunch

service switch is start button

QUOTE
RAM : Upgradable Module, from 64MB upwards (Outrun 2 has 512MB)

seeing that ... if this is true then most games probably wont run well.

I was just thinking about this the other day, but this seems pretty strange.  Doesn't Chihiro use the GDROM to restore all the data into memory anyway?  And if so, wouldn't the performance be horrible?

Never knew about xboxen being arcade units, pretty cool.
You sure that Virtua Fighter Final Tuned will come out on this chihiro thing? that would be pretty sweet if it would run on the xbox!! :D

and we dont have to wait for the ps2 version :)

the only thing preventing these games from playing on xbox is the ram difference

aside from that, the things running pretty much the same as an xbox

by the sounds of it, its just a beefed up coin operated xbox smile.gif

hopefully some looks inside the thing itself would reveal if it would be possible to upgrade a stock xbox to 512mb ram (same amount of chips, just bigger)

and just cause its on a gdrom doesnt mean that u cant use them

gdroms were hacked, u could theoretically replace that dvdrom, and pop in a dvdrom.. maybe play some retail xbox games on the arcade unit itself

to most people this isnt much at all.. and in a way it isnt, but its something out there to only open the door further to mods and new games

and that crazy taxi (having played all crazy taxis myself) is different...

hotd3 looks the same, as does virtua cop
and both of those have been in the arcades already
likely just replacing old sega arcade machines

and for all you n00bs, sega is a very high roller in the arcade business

Virtua Fighter Fine Tuned is already out in japanese arcades but from what i been hearing is that sega won't port the game to any usa system nor make a usa version of the arcade due to lack of fanbase for it in usa.

if they could've done it better before then they should have never released vf4:evolution and waited till fine tuned was out (sega proly trying to dupe sf2 by making version after version isn't a good thing)

as for the talk of Chihiro, i too doubt the games run in normal xbox's but then again if they did work on xbox, why wasn't there a release of any sort? if what sammaz says is true, then we would been able to play crazy taxi 3 since that game came out like a year or 2 ago.

we used the ethernet transfer ...took about 4 hr's ...here are the tools

DC Backup Utility/BBRip v1.1 beta
- Backup software using the broadband adapter at a speed of about 1MB/s

im going to hunt for the rest of the games.......virtua cop 3 might be cool as it was never released for xbox retail.....

I may have the chance to see the chihiro hardware again soon...  crazy taxi didnt have any memory upgrade modules with it maybe they come with games like outrun 2
