Stepmania Alpha 22 To Cvs
« on: September 05, 2004, 10:32:00 PM »

Ladies And Gentlemen.

Long before now (count in technological time, as in 2 years = eternity), Xport ported Stepmania to the Xbox, making a first iteration of the DDR tradition on our green box.

And with the legacy Xport left behind, we, Cybik and tvStatic, are VERY PROUD to announce you that YES, for all the ones that wanted it (though we are still missing movie support), Stepmania CVS (tending to Alpha22) has benn SUCCESSFULLY COMPILED AND RAN ON AT LEAST TWO ALIVE XBOXES! And the users live to say it!

We'll get you the proofs a little later (time to sleep, though I doubt i will jester.gif ), but trust me, WE HAVE FINALLY DONE IT.

We thank Xport for having left some things to build up on. Yes, it wasn't that bad to recompile and work, but damn, someone had to do it.

We'll perfect it and release it some time later, but not that far from now :-P

Oh, and last point : Ain't workin on am Xecuter BIOS we don't know why. Works on EvoX M7 though.

Thanks to you guys for finally porting an update! You will be thanked by even more people soon enough. Also does this port run at full speed? (a good example would be if i had like 600 songs would it be laggy etc?)

Are all the features of Alpha22 working as intented?  Mainly wondering if Pump It Up support will finally work on the Xbox.. smile.gif   It'd be a godsend to be able to play Pump on a TV and not just in front of a computer.

nagmine: Yes, it does indeed suck. I'm working on fixing this but its a hard bug to track down. The working theory is that its generating a malformed XBE for some reason, that only the evox bios can boot. I made a post about it in the development board. To make matters worse is that the debug build won't work for the same reason, so all debugging has to be done with log files etc. As soon as we can figure out how to get it to work with other bioses, you'll hear about it.

Ichibo: It is a direct port using the existing pc code, so I would assume that it would work, but I will look into it.

like i said before.. thanks for porting it.. can't wait till it comes out.. i really wanna use an extreme theme.

EDIT: i know this is a really dumb question.. but what if you patch the .xbe to retail with the debug to retail patcher program.. you never know.. and again.. sorry i know this is a really dumb question to ask. (im really anxious to playing this thing.)

Figured it would, just wanted to make sure it wasn't overlooked smile.gif

Also, if it is just a direct port, don't forget about screen resizing and redefining keys without a keyboard.

Just played a song using pump successfully. Pretty cool, never tried it before.
Also, I've just added support for redefining keys using the controller.
Screen resizing is also on the list.
