Some Games Lock After Initial "press Start" Screen
« on: April 09, 2005, 08:20:00 AM »

This weekend I soldered an ICE into my buddy's 1.6b. I'm using the M8+ bios modified with the EVTool. The chip (2.0.1) works fine and load xbmc no problem. I slapped a 200gig hdd into it and forgot about the 138gig limit on partitions and didn't format a G: for him when I did the hdd upgrade wizard. I'll go back and redo it if I can figure out why 50% of the games wont play from the hard drive.

There doesn't seem to be any method to the madness on which games will play and which ones wont. Some games just freeze when you "Press Start" and wont continue. Others work just fine.

I've tried different versions of xbmc. This had no effect as the same games are still locking(Call of Duty, Ghost Recon 2, Rogue Agent, Mech Assault2).

Has anyone had a similar experience or any clues what might be going wrong? <

Try clearing the cache and see if that helps <

Delete cache, format x, y, and z.  If you used the xenium wizard to prep the hd, I'd suggest reformatting it with slayers as the wizard can cause these issues sometimes. <

If that Xbox has been on Live it's possible that the dashupdate.xbe and update.xbe have added game updates to x/y/z. Delete any files that aren't dash related from there, delete the game, and back it up again. That would only be a problem if you played with the ethernet connection. Even if it hasn't been on Live, playing with the ethernet connected will cause Live enabled games to freeze.

You should reformat the drive for starters.

i had the exact same problem.
i relized it was my saved games that was causeing it cuz i was playing from dvds then put the games on a hard drive.
try deleting the saved game data if its still not working
i guess when u have saved game data it stores where the game was loaded from.
i deleted my games saves and it worked fine after words
i think u'll find that the games that do work are the ones that dont have saves on the hard drive, if its like my situation was

E:/Cache is what you need to delete (the files INSIDE not the folder itself) <
