Ok, so I read up on both chips, and I still cannot decide which one I want to buy.  If possible, I'd like to hear some comments onwhy you purchased the Xenium chip over the xecuter. <

I have installed and used both chips, and all can say is that the installation of the X3 is fucking ugly and untidy - there are wires going in all different directions accross the inside of the xbox.

The Xenium on the other hand, has a 2x5 pinheader, and on wire to the d0 point. Easy.

Also the Xenium is ALOT more user friendly, the Xenium OS is practically all you need to set everything up on your xbox. It allows flashing of the chip from a USB drive, and comes with a free USB adaptor.

I have the ability to install either chip, but I have still only installed 3 X3s, but over 20 xeniums. You decide. <

I've never used an x3, I own a Xenium, BUT given the lack of supports and updates, if I were buying again I wouldn't touch Xenium with a bargepole, I'd buy an X3 <

Personally I would buy a Xenium. It's rock solid, does have updates unlike others may have said  dry.gif and has an EXTREMELY active community around it!

How many chips have you bought where the service and quality extends to the users after purchase? How many modchip communities are swarming in huge groups JUST to help new members??? I'll tell you right now which forum is more active wink.gif

Ontop of everything else is the fact that basic information and OS updates aren't hidden to you, they are located EASILY at www.TeamXodus.com as is the creators and coders themselves for the Xenium!

Plus, the Xenium is obviously sexier wink.gif Add some spice to your life wink.gif  beerchug.gif

I've also had a great experience with bmmods; modwhiz is also a great reseller. Those are just the resellers I've had the pleasure of dealing with; Any authorized reseller should be just fine smile.gif (Check out www.teamxodus.com )

well, first, if we're gonna get literal, he didnt ask anyone if he should get a xenium or an x3.  nor did he ask what you like better.

he actually asked

i got it because looking through the forums, there was much more useful help on this forum.  artifex is always professional.  and no, support doesnt hinge on whether he answers or not.  there are 3-5 very supportive, and consistent  users that post help.  they might as well be paid by xodus wink.gif

also, at the time, it was os based, though it was buggy.  but thats been ironed out for the most part.

the install seemed simple enough, and it didnt use switches (x3 was not out at the time.  at the time it was during the "its coming, really" phase).

though, i've heard mixed opinions on the x3 chip, i cant bash it since i've never used it.  it does have some nice "bling" to it, but that hasnt been important to me.  all i know is with the xenium i solder in a pin header, solder a d0, and boot the chip.  add a bios, add a dash, and i'm ready to go.  with another 5 minutes of work, i can add a new harddrive (i've done a few, and always used the os.  never had a problem), and flash a new eeprom.  so now i have a modded box ready for live in less than 15-20 minutes (depending on soldering skill, could be 10).

oh yeah, i vote for bmmods as well.

Buy from bmmods, but don't get a Xenium.

100+ X3 installs.
About a dozen Ice installs.

^ and that's by customer choice.

X3 in my Crystal Xbox and I'm putting together my Kasumi w/ a X3. I won't let a Xenium any where near my personal systems.

Also, you have to download tools to make any changes to a bios for your Ice, then you have to reflash it. If it doesn't work, you have to do it again.

W/ the X3 the bios is made specific for the chip and any changes can be done "live" with the Xbox controller. Now that's user friendly.

X3 has the bitchin' Pro switch and if you really want to add to the look you can get the Cobntrol Panel w/ the LCD and Pro Switch already in it.

The Xenium has one external LED, the X3 has the "X" to tell you if you chip is enabled or not and LAN and hdd activity LED's and you have the option of the other goodies mentioned above.

I could keep going, but what's the point. The results will still be the same, "Xecuter Rox My Box".

End of story.

Oh yeah, the thread is named "Xenium Ice Vx Executer 3, Can't decide"

I have the best of both worlds, my honest response. Get an X3, you don't have to use all the cables that come with it. Can work just like an Xenium, no switches etc.

I love the Xenium though I feel it's lacking an OS update and I would like to see there promised BFM support.

Xenium is legal until you flash Evox bios on there, nothing to brag about.

The X3 community is very active, I never see much going on in the xodus forums or chan, they were not very friendly to me once in there chan  so that is why I like TX.

The X3 can be legal to if you flash a Linux bios to it.

It's really up to you get what you like, Xenium rulez in certain areas but there is somthing about the X3 I like more than Xenium. I don't know what it is, sorry if I'm biased that is just how I feel. <

i say go for the xenium. i had an Xecutor chip and was very unsatisfied with it (note it wasnt an X3 though) from what i hear the X3 has a bunch of bells and whistles to make it look good. if your going to want to keep changing your BIOS and want to get on LIVE also and stuff like that then go for the X3. if you want to get everything installed and just keep it how it is then get a Xenium. both great chips. its really what you want. all i can say is ignore those post that say "i wont let Xenium/Xecutor near my xbox" because those are biased posts. i say just look at what features each chip has, how easy they are to install (if your doing the install yourself), and then make your decision. its kinda like the PS2 VS Xbox argument. both GREAT systems but each have its +'s and -'s <

Implying that my argument is biased doesn't strengthen yours.

I purchased a Xenium before the X3 was released. I've worked w/ both.

funny how nobody reads what the guy said to start with.  he never asked any x3 users why he should get an x3.  he never asked any xenium users why he should get an x3.  he asked xenium users why THEY got a xenium.

read the request.  answer the question.  why does every thread like this need to be a pissing contest.

i could make several counters to the x3 remarks, but that supports the pissing contest.  basic functionality of both chips is just that, basic functionality.  its that simple.

and yeah, thats the title of the thread, but did you read his request at all?
