That's not it, I forgot to mention that it's an arcade game, but the one that you mentioned looks really cool anway. Thanks.

edit= sp

Sounds a bit like Trojan to me... could that be it?  It's been a VERY long time since I played that game, so I might be remembering it wrong, but it seems close to your description.  Also, I played it on the NES, not in the arcade.

EDIT: Gladiator may be the game you're talking about.

Alright I thought of a real one this time. It's an arcade game by SEGA but it was like a Hologram...

You controlled some cowboy on this screen that was shaped to make the guy appear to be standing on top of the screen. It was an amazing idea but the game was really really really bad. All you did was shoot random enemies that popped up out of nowhere on your left and right....you couldn't walk around or anything (I dont think).

Its the only "Hologram" type game I've ever seen before. It came out in the early 90s I think.

The hologram game was Time Traveler.

It was probably made in the mid-late eighties and was some type of sword fighting game. It had early 16-bit graphics and you kind of looked like the guy from the game "Hippodrome"(for mame). All I really remember about it(since I was about 6) was that you could move around like you would in games like Final Fight, but would only fight maybe 3 or 4 generic guys before the boss. After beating the the forst sub-boss, you would decapitate him with your sword and his head would go flying in the air. You could also jump ridiculously high, which was a bit awkward to control. That's about all I remember about it, since it was so long ago, but I'm hoping someone else remembers this game and can name it.

Was it a scrolling fighter or a series of one-on-one bouts?

I only ever made it to the second level in this game, so my knowledge is pretty limited. A couple more details are that the first level took place outside, possibly near a castle and the second level was in a cave. I think that the second boss had some sort of living, spider -like bone armor, but maybe I'm just making that up.

To me this sounds kind of like Barbarian II, but that was a home computer game. Both barbarian 1 and 2 were great

Man this is great...I finally get to find all these games that I never knew the names of.

It's a Sega Geneis game where you play as some normal guy but after a certain number of points, he turns into this HUGE muscular person and was like near-invincible (I think... but its not Altered Beast, this game is a lot more cartoony).  The game was something like a platformer I think, but I just remember when he was normal, he was very meek (like RARE's Sabre-guy)  but when he transformed, he got at least 2 or 3 times his normal size.

I know it really sounds like Altered Beast but that's not it at all. I remember it being a one player game, it was side-scrolling and it wasn't a beat-em-up.

I'm not sure if it was on Genesis, but that reminds me of a NES game called Amagon

I played a game in the early 80's at a splish splash that I could never find again.

It was a 2 player shooter, with an overhead view.  You were on some kind of speeder bike. (Not star wars).  Your bike could shoot, and so could your pilot.  There was a spinner controller that rotated your pilot so he could shoot in any direction.  The bike would always shoot forward.
