Surreal 64 Compatibility List

hitman699 I have the same exact problem you do when running the game about when the camera angle changes and the graphics get all messed up looking  like when in hyrule castle, the hut you start out in, shops, etc   and would also like to know how this can be fixed  maybe the rom we got just don't work right cause I got (U) V1.0 but if there are better rioms versions that work fine I wouldn't mine knowing cause I do want to play this game right.

Surreal 64 Compatibility List

I recently replaced all of my n64 roms that had a .usa extension, and replaced them with roms that now have a ".7z" extension... will surreal support this? Can I simply rename the extension to something else like .v64 or whatever?

The reason I am asking is because ever since I replaced the roms I have not been able to see the roms in my rom list... I deleted the gavesave for surreal 64 in the xbox dash to do a clean start for everything and I have the roms listed just as default " D: roms " etc, and the roms folder is inside the same folder as the emulator itself (surreal64//roms)

If this .7z extension doesn't work I guess I'll have to go back to using my less complete collection of the .usa extension.

(I'm asking in the compatibility list area because I want to make sure that ALL extensions are in fact compatible with this emu). Maybe if you can point out which rom extensions you are using to get the best results instead of just saying "goldeneye (!)(U).zip" say "goldeneye (!)(U).v64"

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but doesn't the .7z extension mean that the roms are zipped with "7zip" and probably contain more than just one version of the rom in question? For example, Mario Kart 64 "unzipped" would have:

Mario Kart 64 (E)(v1.0)[!].z64
Mario Kart 64 (E)(v1.1)[!].z64
Mario Kart 64 (U)(v1.0)[!].z64

etc, etc, all contained in the same .7z zip.

My experience has been that those .7z files contain just about all versions of the rom.

Woah, I'm totally thrown for a loop here...never even heard of the compression method of "7zip" and .7z...  I mean, there already is winzip, winrar, winace etc...why are people bothering using another different type of compression? Now I know why my roms weren't working. Hopefully this "7zip" program has a windows version. Thanks for the info.

Ok, now I know what the big deal about this 7-zip program is...did a search on google and found the program.  I extracted a 24 mb file and it contained 3 or 4 32 mb roms inside of it just like ProdigyXP explained. I wasn't sure if the .7z was some new n64 extension or what. Unfortunately surreal 64 won't recognize these 'super-compressed' files as roms. Maybe we can add this as a feature request for Surreal 2.0 or for anyone else messing with it since it is opensource.

I guess now I am going to have to extract every single one of these .7z files, and figure out which ones I want to keep. I hate having 4 copies of each rom, big waste of space in my opinion.

Is there some way of having Surreal64 remember which emulator I want to use for each game?  I started up Mario 64 in UltraHLE and exited then selected the same game again and it asked me which emulator I wanted to use...

I'd rather not have to print out a copy of this compatibility list for reference.  blink.gif

yes, edit your surreal ini.

for each rom you could change the preferred emulator and give your rom an alternate title.

for example: preferred emulator=0   ==> always select 1964 as primary choice

after you've done this, dont forget to clear tdata or copy surreal.ini to surreal64 directory in tdata. otherwise you wont notice your tweaks.

the c/l says that zelda-oot runs without errors on 1964 but when i play it the 3d graphics are ok when the 2d elements ( when changing the camera or in the hyrule castle ) they are messed up. when i changed the audio plug in it was ok but the game crashed when entering the inventory.
has anyone managed to configure the game so it works with good graphics and isnt crashing?

Is that litterally what I have to type? Seems kinda long for a ini file setting...

Would I type:
"preferred emulator =0  ==>always select project64 as primary choice" for Project64 and
"preferred emulator =0  ==>always select ultrahle as primary choice:" for ultraHLE?

Is there maybe a tutorial that gets deep enough into Surreal that it explains all this?

NFL Blitz 2001

Emulator Version: Surreal 1.0
Rom Version: (U) [!]

1964: Hangs up just before you start game

Project 64: Works great with:
Max Video Memory: 2
Dynarec: 16
Page: 8

If you've got Surreal XXX, Soften On, Hard Vertex, Guassain Filter makes it just that little bit smoother.

Only issue i've noticed is it won't let you resize the screen... that would be nice to have.

I'm pretty sure blast corps runs on Project 64 pretty well IF you press start before it reaches the part of the intro where it can crash (I'm using Surreal xxx).
