Ok so I downloaded the kinst.zip with all the required files in it then i got the kinst.chd file.
I can play them (kinst.zip with kinst.chd) fine on mame for my pc but not mame32 on my pc or mameox on xbox.
I keep getting a message that says kinst.chd not found.
Weird as I have them there zipped together and a set unzipped in the roms folder and all my ini's point to there.
So I got the chdman.exe and followed the tutoral to updated and everything seemed to work.
Again I can play the updated version and the original version of KI I just made on mame but not mame32.
I also cannot play it on mameox on xbox.
I have tried the extract chd to image tutoral and got the raw image but need to use a hex editer.
This is where I am totaly lost.
could someone please give me a few pointers or a step by step on how to hex edit to make my image playable with u64 or help me figure out a way to get my chd to play with mame32 or mameox?
The version of mameox i have on the xbox is 0.76.1b which plays great with all my other roms.
The version of mame32 is 0.0.67.0.

If you give a step by step please let me know what hex edit you use say I can download the same as I think it would make it easier for me that way.

Well thanks for nothing lazybutt holes LOL, anyways I will help others as I found what I needed and I know there are others asking the same as me in 35 other posts, here is the tools to make your chd file back into a IMG file.

I just used it and it works great with u64.

Hope others get use out of my find since I spent 6 hours strait looking into this info!!

Hey Anubis where did you get your KI 1 & 2 chd files and roms from? I downloaded that program and used it on my chd files. My KI 1 chd file did not patch but my KI 2 did. I tried it on the xbox but it didn't work. It booted but thats it. I jumped to a red then a black screen. What in the world am I doing wrong?

Same thing happened to me last night when I tried, so i dl 2 other ki chd files from 2 different sites and ki2 worked and ki1 failed using the patch . So I'm thinking It may be the patcher, is there another patcher?

yeah, but I don't know if its the same one you used though. Its called the kipatcher. Maybe we can help eachother out. But off the forum though. I've noticed that the moderators are really picky about what we talk about and I don't want them to kick me out. But since you have a working KI2 img I will trade you for my working KI1 img or you can tell me where you got your KI2 image.

To get it to work you need to have an unmodded kinst.chd 93,380kb in size or

91.1Mb in size and the Ki-bios roms set L15d .

Then you need to download the file that I gave you the link to above on this page.

Make a new folder on your desktop called "_______" what ever something like

KI-New.

UnRAR all the patch files in to your new folder you just made.

Then find where you have your kinst.chd file on your pc and darg and drop your

kinst.chd ontop of the KIpatch.bat file and wait about a min or 2.

It will ask you yes or no type y for yes and click enter and wammo you are done.

If it doesn't ask you for yes or no don't worry as long as it runs you will be fine.

Now look in your new folder for the file called "ki.img" and send that along with

your "ki-bios roms u10-l1 ,u11-l1 ,u12l-l1 ,u13-l1 ,u33-l1 ,u34-l1 ,u35-l1 ,u36-l1 ,-

u98-l15d" to your xbox in the u64-x/ ki1 folder.

Now play your little hearts out.....

You can do the same thing for kinst2.chd .

Please note that you cannot get it to work if you have the bios roms with u98-l14

only with u98-l15d .

I still can't get this to work with my ki1 chd?? When I try to patch it says error opening disc image 'kinst.chd: invalid file. I'm using the one that came with my .84 mame set. But i've tried a d/l version and same results

So how do you find out if my chd is moddified or not?

It also depends on what version of mameox you are using as i believe the newer version uses the new chds and the older version use the older chd.mame changed the way the chd file was on version.80 i think so you depending wich version file you got that could be the problem

There are actualy 2 differant versions of the chd an older one and a bewer see if ya can get them both tryit

Grrr, Still can't get this too work. Can someone with an .84 ver chd of killer instinct
91.1 mb or 95,627,930 bytes please d/l the patcher above and see if it works for you?

Oh, and I also tried using CHDman in place of hdcomp in the patcher and updating the ki batch file with the same results..
