I want to make a skin for Link to the Past for GBA. one of the menu screens was to have link run through the forbidden forest before he got his master sword. the squirrels and birds would run through, he'd then reach the sword and try to pull it out. you know how he strains when he can't pull or lift something...well, he'd be doing that for a bit, give up, and walk away...blah blah
the problem is that there's fog in the forest, so there should be fog in the skin. most sprites will be in the front if they're comparatively lower down on the screen, which is usually fine. so i have the fog, but as few may know, the larger the size of the sprites, the more likely that sprite will be UNDERNEATH the smaller sprites. having the fog underneath link, the birds, squirrels, and the master sword just would not do. same for rain, firestorm effects (in my ogre battle skin), arches (in my legend of mana skin), and pretty much any other large act of nature.
my idea is to allow a priority of which sprite comes first (or foremost). the fog could be set to 1 or 0, and sprites that are meant to go underneath could be set to 1 or 2 on down. effects like fog and rain would then be possible.
in spite of your original disinterest in skins, you've been quite generous with the UI. i hope it sounds like a decent idea and something that's not too big a pain to do. thanks either way.
