I see no one else complaining about Metal Slug 3.

No problems here....

I'm wondering if people are not turning the force VMM off if they have indeed enabled it. Sure the odd title takes longer to load but they DO work if all other needed variables are correct.

Infact, so far I have gotten every game I have tried that should work in MAME to work in MAMEoX, perhaps folks think you have fixed the entire game database of MAME and all titles now work  tongue.gif

There's one thing I'd love to see you do to the GUI and that's to add your normal letter jump search routine. The high speed scroll is nice but a tad finicky, just pushing left or right to go up or down a letter is sooo much easier.

Saying all that I am grateful for your hard work and I'd rather see what time you thankfully spare on the emulators adding new and updated things rather than just time savers.

Does this version of Mame support mulple directories for screenshots?
If it doesn't how do you get all the screenshots working then?

Would it be possible to have some flashing text, response to controller input, or something on the loading screen to give some indication as to whether its initializing or actually frozen? Some games take so long that you think its fozen, and sometimes, I'll wait for several minutes and find that it actually IS frozen. Not complaining about the wait times, it would just be nice to have some indication as to what's going on.

How do I access the UI configuration menu in game?

*Edited*

I had to delete all the old configuration files. Uploaded all the fresh files to a new dir.

Now the UI configuration menu seems to be working fine.

I think we just get one directory for screenshots. It will actually hold all of the "official" mame32 shots, but it won't hold a seperate picture for each rom (5014). I would just be happy if someone would give the screenshots a parent / clone sharing relationship, like they have in MAME32. Then you would just need 1 picture for the parent, but all the clones would aslo display the same screenshot.

It would also be nice if the screenshots could be zipped like in MAME32.

I get malloc error with rolling thunder 2.  Isnt that a namco game also?

You need to set VM for Namco System 2 games now. A value of 16 works fine from the few I  tried (32 doesn't allow the sound to be initiated).

And thank you Xport for this update m(_ _)m

Hold the Y button and press up or down.

I'll be buggered...

I'd tried that a million times and it said unsupported in the status bar, never thought of sorting them by name and then trying it...

(hides head in shame)

Thanx...

Surely once it says it's loaded the emulation is handed over to the mame driver so there would not be a way to run a scroller / flasher etc AND have the emulation engine going?

I've noticed this one too.  I think (this is just a guess) that xport's version doesn't have the correct skin with it, it has a 'work in progress' version of it instead.  I think mameox used to load it's skin from the resource.xpr file, but it doesn't seem to now.
Does anyone know how to extract the fully working skin from the resource.xpr file?  Or, xport would it be possible to go back to using the resource.xpr file for the skin?  Was there any particular reason why you changed it to load skins from the skins folder instead?

btw, what i've just typed is purely guess work and assumptions, please fell free to correct me if i'm wrong.

cheers.

I'm having the same problem, screenshots appear at the very bottom right hand side of the screen.  Anyone have a solution to this?

Great work X-port ... as usual.

1. multiple screenshots folders (and screensot positioning fix)

2. fix DCS sound for midway games...

3. pay xport for his efforts
