Decathlete loads to 100% then goes to a "Black Screen of Death" stays like that unless you press Start & Back to exit.

Used to be out of memory.
Might be my rom version since on MAME32 0.79 it is missing a file.

If yours works feel free to mention  biggrin.gif

XPort,
ThanX for the update, has the problem with guns "holding down" the black/white buttons been fixed?

In case you didn't see in the other thread, my lightgun, and I'm sure some others, doesn't have black or white buttons, so MAMEoX thinks if a gun is plugged in, that it's holding down black and/or white, which makes calibrating the gun impossible and menu navigation freezes unless I unplug the gun.

To be honest, I don't know how easy this is to fix, but I'd assume the action/code for detecting the pressing of black/white could be replaced with detection code for when the button is released instead, or something like that.

ThanX again, BYEEEEE!!

If you are loading a game and it is "freezing" at the "done loading" screen, the 99% of the time it is not actually frozen but doing initialization routines.  You need to wait longer.  It's also possible in this scenario that your ZIP is outdated.  (See two paragraphs down)

If you are loading a game and you get a black screen with no "press OK" screen, then that is most likely an "out of memory" condition.  Turn on VM and go through the steps outlined in the README.  It's also possible in this scenario that your ZIP is outdated.  See the next paragraph.

If you are loading a game and it says you are missing some files, then your ZIP is outdated and has been changed from a previous version of MAME.  MAME games get "changed" for a number of reasons.  Sometimes some of the ROM images inside were dumped incorrectly.  Sometimes ROM images were missing altogether.  Regardless of the reason, you'll need to get the newer version.  Use ROM checking utilities (as noted in other threads) to verify the authenticity of your games.

If you are loading a game that is in the VM.TXT file and it is "not working", then you are  experiencing problem #1 (not waiting long enough) or #2 (your ZIP is old/outdated).

If you are loading a game that is not in the VM.TXT file and it is "not working" then you first need to make absolutely sure that your game.ZIP file is MAME 0.84 compliant.  Once you have established that, then the problem is either 1) It doesn't work in MAME 0.84 or 2) Out of memory.  If #2, then follow the easy instructions in the README.

all my neogeo roms are perfectly, checked with Romcenter wit Mame v0.84.dat, including the neogeo bios neogeo.zip, so this is not the problem, and Metal Slug 3 is supported in vm.txt, and I waited 9 mins XD

it should be a bug somewhere

It's not a bug.  You're the only one who seems to be unable to get that game to play.  The problem is on your end.

well sammaza and others are also having problems
I know the problem it´s on my end, but I have tried all I can imagine and still nothing. Same problem with Pulstar, it won´t load after 5 mins waiting.

the problem is not the roms, as they work in mame32

sammaza, what dash are you using?, xbox version, region etc?

QUOTE (chevi @ Jul 25 2004, 11:43 AM)

I see no one else complaining about Metal Slug 3.  The problems other people are having with other games are all addressed in my previous post.

If you're still having problems, then I suggest completely deleting everything related to any old/new version of MAMEoX and installing the latest build to a new, empty directory somewhere.

for you people asking if tekken runs... the answer is yes... does it run good... hell no.. it runs like slow ass on the pc version of mame so what makes you think it'll run good in this version?

any 3D games such as - Tekken 1 2 3 tag, SF EX 1 2, Soul Calibur/Edge, Beastorizer/Bloody Roar, etc... do not run good at all, so quit asking...

I deleted mameox from e: and its udata and tdata directory, so everything related to MameoX is erased. I ftped it again to F: with exactly the same result, the same games fail again.

I have to try more games but up to now it seems ontly fail some Neogeo games, so I can use Fbaxxx to play them, no problem. biggrin.gif

Keep up the good work XPort, have some  beerchug.gif  while I play Vasara  wink.gif

I brought back all my cps1-2-and neogeo games back to MAMEoX. But I have on complaint. Dip Switches. Most of the games that I played on Kawa-X, had dip switches to screw aorund with the game settings. The same games I brought over from Kawa-X to MAMEoX, show now dip switches. Is there anyway of getting these to appear??
