oh i think i know what the problem is now. Have You patched the Image with a PPF file to make it so it will play as a backup ?
if you havent first download the PPF patch for the version of the game you have from this site

then put the patch in the same folder as the game then open PPF-O-Matic Version 3.0 which you can download here

and after applying the patch it should work perfect. i just presumed you had already patched it but if you havent this could be the solution.

ok if that didnt work we are gonna take a longshot and try the Final Fantasy 9 Protection Fix FRA PAL 1MB version. its the french version but its still for the PAL version so it should still work but if it doesnt contact me at (EDITED OUT FOR PERSONAL REASONS) and i will send you my FF9 SLUS_012.51 already patched by me so it should work. i didnt make the patch but it does work on my XBOX. all you will have to do is extract your ISO then place my file in the extracted files and it should work perfect.

u gota keep hitting x (that would be a on the xbox) as soon as the squaresoft logo comes up, it dont seem to like it. mine crashes about 45 mins into the game just after garnet is kidnapped and the airship escapes. any suggestions?

doubt it, it just crashes as soon as i arrive in the forest. i have top put the fmv's on black and white to get to that point though
