Seriously though, you are allowed to take more credit than that, I'm sure it requires a great amount of skill to port WinUAE to the XBOX regardless of how the guts may be the same.

no second prize - Toofast: works

Hmm, there never was a CD32 version of "No Second Prize" I wonder where this came from. It must be a WHDLOAD disk or something.

@XPORT

I am searching a way to connect my Competition Pro to the XBOX (NOT the pad hacking method!!!). I have found several USB adapters for pc's. Will WinUAEX support these when I connect them with the XBOX USB adapter (with which you can plug other USB devices to the XBOX)??? If not could you make it possible to connect the joystick this way so WinUAEX will support it?

Thanks in advance!!!

Also - to all the people thanking me - it's very much appreciated, but you should really be thanking tonioni since he is the real genius behind WinUAE. I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants.

Yeah but if we go too far down that road we'll be thanking [insert preferred deity here] for creating the universe.

Tonioni may have given WinUAE to the world, but you gave it to us. happy.gif

I thought about so,mething like that some time ago, someone needs to programm a microcontroller for the xbox, like this one http://www.codemercs...oyWarriorE.html
with this specs.
http://euc.jp/periph...troller.en.html
BTW. it isnt that hard to solder an controller that way to use different pads etc.

Thanks for the reply mate,
I'd love to put the kb and mouse on seperate ports, but unfortunately I can't the logitech set comes with the infrared base which has 2 ps/2 plugs and a single usb plug...unless there's a way of converting the ps/2 stuff back to usb (in which case I'll need another USB-XBOX converter too) would love to hear from anyone who's tried successfully or not to use a set up like mine?

I'll have to have another play to find the LED and floppy stuff... approx how fast is turbo anyway? 4X 8X?

I did play with the resolution thingy, it seemed I could stretch my screen out beyond the boundary of my TV to 800*600 or 720*576 but it still looked like it was in 640*480.. though I'll admit I didn't save the setting and re-load something... other than that I could pick the tv modes like 480i 480p ... would be even better if I could run things in the Amiga native resolution on the TV ... like 320*256 and 640*256/512 etc (from memory)

What are others finding the best screen settings are for a std 68cm TV? (PAL)

As for the fella who was asking about workbench install instructions... use google it shouldn't take you too long ... there's some good old amiga sites out there with this on it... maybe jambo, back to the roots or amiga4ever or similar sites might have this around... else look for a pre-installed HDF will be a lot easier for you

I have a similar setup to yours with 2 PS2 plugs going into 1 of my usb to xbox controller ports and this do work on uaex (but that emu lacks ALOT that this emu has to offer) so it is definately possible.

So if u have the time have a look at this it would be nice to play Oil Imperium again.....

Anf if anyone has some optimum settings for WINGS please post them...

schlauchi - if you want to delete the files associated with a game, highlight the game in the fileselection menu and press the black button

re: USB adaptors/controllers - no this will not work on the XBox without some very low-level code being written.  The XBox has XDK support for a select few proprietary items (xbox-specific joypads, keyboards, mice, etc).  It would take a lot of time and effort to implement a new USB-controller device driver with no guarantee of success....and since getting USB controllers working on the XBox is not of any interest to me, it's not going to be me who does the gruntwork.

You could use that keyboard IPAC thing, but as of today there is no way to assign keystrokes to controller buttons in any of my projects.  (I could theoretically do this, but it would take some serious restructuring and I'm not sure I'd be interested in doing this either for such a limited group of people.)

In theory if you had a hardware filter that sat in between your USB controller and the XBox that could parse the HID information and replace it with something usable from the XDK point-of-view (e.g. the HID information for a standard XBox controller), then you'd be all set.

re: USB hub for mouse+keyboard on same port - I said that in general HUBs don't play nice with the XBox.  You must be one of the lucky ones that has a hardware setup that actually works.  It is not software related - it's purely a hardware issue.

Well couldn't it be somehow done like this WITHOUT hacking the controller. If there was a possiblility to do it like THIS without hacking the controller could you somehow implement it. You can see him play Rick Dangerous!!!

Got a question about WHDLOAD... The website mentions something about using original disks for best results.  So with the tosec collection, which are the best ones to pick?  Ones without trainers?  Is it obvious by the tosec description.

Is there enough memory in winuaex to run WHDLOAD?

Try to find the TOSEC CAPS Files ( http://www.caps-project.org/) - they are 100% copys of the original disks, including the protection and everything. The CAPS-guys have done a great job with this.

Hey quick question for some of you other Amigans out there......

I've been trying to set up a 4gig HDF in WinUAE (regular not xbox) and after I format it, it seems to only be 900 or so meg. Do I need to fiddle with the block size or install something else on my WB3.0 to get this working as a 4 gig device?

Have you tried to run HDToolbox from the Workbench install disk? (Haven't tried it myself by now) This should give you detailed information about the hd geometry and the option to toy around with them (if it works on emu).  If I recall it right, only OS3.1 or even 3.5 was able to handle up to 4 gig, but I am not sure about this.

Jep. The Joywarrior was my first thought, as it is a proper HID Controller, but I think it would be more compatible to most other controllers if you simulate a keyboard instead of HID. Every Emu (at least the once on Computers) are playable with keyboard - on xbox this is a little different. The padkeys have to be assigned to keyboard - which is a rare item on xbox. On the other hand, a keaboard hold up to over 100 keys, which gives you very much connectors for making the controller even multivplayer. I-Pac 2 and I-Pac 4 already proofed this. They even managed to get 4 Players with up to 6 Buttons each running without ghostkeys.

I think I will wait a little and see what comes along. smile.gif

OK cool.  I have a CAPS folder sitting on my hard drive with about 400 games in it.

They are all .ipf files though.  How do I get them so Winuaex can read them?

Hmmm glancing at the page it looks like I'd have to WHDinstall them to an .HDF file on my pc and copy that over to the xbox.

I think in the v3 thread someone said the access API's were .dll files or something like that.

WinUAEX can't read any of the caps project files and won't until someone from the CAPS project makes the library more Xbox-OS compatible.
