WinUAEX Amiga Emulator port for XBox v3

what's New:

- CD32/CDTV support - Plays real CD32/CDTV cds and ISO files
(playing CD32 ISO files does not support WAV/MP3 CDDA tracks at this time)

- Added "Extended ROM" to configuration screen

- Samba, Relax, Netplay re-implemented

- Increased max JIT cache size to 8MB

- Increased max Chipmem size to 8MB - WHDLoad games work now

- Added drive click sounds option "Floppy Volume" on game configuration screen

- Fixed bug with display of FastRAM.  1MB was displayed as 0MB and vice-versa.

- Screen tearing was not actually fixed in v2.  Now it is.

- Added "Force PAL50" mode in Video Configuration section (off by default)

- Added "Disable Flicker Filter" to Video Configuration section (on by default)

- Create blank ADF/HDF files from In Game Options menu

- ADZ support

- Fixed all special/international character-conversion to be non-DEBUG FAT-X compatible
  (Workbench enthusiasts)

- Screen size/position saved for each game

- Added more fine-grain CPU speed options.
  0 = Max, 1 = Real, 2 = 100% ... 33 = 0%

- Added "Reset Amiga" function to In-Game Options menu

- Fixed memory bug when reading ISO9660 files

- Added default text-viewing dir.  Set it via the default directories section.

- Text file settings (fixed width, text width) are maintained each time
you go back and forth from the menu

- When you go up a directory, the cursor is positioned over the directory you just
  exited.

- Because of changes to the structure of configuration file, you'll have to
  reconfigure all your games.

- Graphics filters were added back in, but only one or two of them could be
used without slowing down the game (on even the simplest of games.)
I removed them again so that the memory could be put to better use.

===============
Important Notes
===============

To get CD32 emulation working, you need two ROM files to be placed in the
D:\ROMS directory.  They are the CD32 version of the Kickstart 3.1 ROM and the
CD32 extended ROM image.  They need to be called :

D:\ROMS\KICKCD32.ROM
D:\ROMS\EXT_CD32.ROM

The default configuration that appears for CD32 games should work in most
cases.

To play a real CD, put the CD into the XBox DVDRom drive and select
"Launch Inserted Media" from the Main Menu.

To play an ISO file, select it as you would normally select an ADF game.

CD32/CDTV emulation is a little flaky.  On rare occasions, the bootup screen will not
appear.  Also, the CDDA tracks will sometimes fail to play.

Playing MP3/WAV files with ISO CD32 tracks is not currently supported.

You the machine!!

BTW what is the function of the fine-grain CPU speed option.  Or in other words, what is it's intention, or use?

IIRC WHDLoad installs require fastram, not extra chipram.

But still WOW, what an update!

Excellent! Can't wait to try this.  biggrin.gif

One thing though, why did you increase the amount of Chip RAM available rather than the Fast RAM? In a real Amiga the Chip RAM usually stays the same and it's the Fast RAM that is added via the expansion slot. I don't know what difference it'll make but I just thought I'd ask.

Thankies!

xport: maybe you can create version with more fast ram than more chip mem and jit memory, most demos/intros require 4 or more fast memory and whdload too. best regards.

Great work - I never even knew such a complete emulator existed on the PC!
And the xPort interface is so user friendly - thanks!

Rhaaaa ! Lovely !!  love.gif

I was coming 10 times a day to check for a new WinUAEX version, and now the V3 has so many great improvements !! Thank you very much Xport !!
The restored menu position is really a nice addition wink.gif Thanks for listening to your users smile.gif

In fact, I obtain better results than with the corresponding WinUAE PC version. For example on PC, the "Hardwired" demo (Silents + Crionics) has problems centering the screen (it jumps offscreen all the time, and auto-center screen option activating/deactivating doesn't seem to fix the problem). On Xbox, the screen is perfectly centered wink.gif

I've got a general WinUAE question BTW : it seems that even on my 2.8Hz P4 PC I can't get a really smooth scrolling of scrolltexts and starfields, which seem a little jerky. The same happens in WinUAEX. Since everything seems emulated at original speed, I was wondering if this was a vsync problem that could be solved by using a specific option, or if a perfect vsync was not possible with WinUAE yet. Any clue ?

Ok, now it's time for a non stop Amiga demos session ! smile.gif

Bye

I'm no expert but I always have this problem when I'm running in 60hz, when I switch it over to 50hz it becomes smoother. :)

Xport, amazing work, what an emulator! can I ask you a small question. Would you possibly add a flicker filter level for your next release as when disabling the filter altogether in 50hz has some serious vertical scaling issues. So all I ask is if you could add an option to enable users to adjust the flicker level in stages, eg. 1-5.

Superb emulator anyway, thankyou!!

do cd32 cd´s have any bootsector?
Because i need to convert 2 bin files into iso, thinking of mountig them and make an iso from them or do bins also work, i run often into the following prob.
i noticed that most of the games run one time, and when i wanna play them again,
it didnt go past the loading screen from Winuaex, running them with the same config as before.

i tested a whdload game that didnt run under v2, on v3 it runs perfect like anything else.

very good work, xport.
