Do you have the last XDK?, there is a pretty example and documentation about.

Nope, it's not in the usual places on IRC, all I can find is the open XDK I guess it's too hot even for them.

I hope both yourself and I are proved wrong VooD and there is a way to get 240p out of the X-box.

Field rendering IMPLIES the use of interlacing, so each 1/60 second just odd or pair lines would be showed. NO PROGRESSIVE MODE AT ALL.
Look the example about what you´d get if you use field rendering for a single 240 field.
I think you still not completly understand what field rendering means.

Also you dont have to forget that not only vertical resolution is important, but horizontal does also matters if you want to get pixel perfect output, and that would imply a low level access to the pixel clock on the gpu, completly ignoring tv encoded

its not all bad news. I implemented field rendering in xSnes9x last night - the results are promising.

Very interesting comparison. I remember to see the exact same effect playing some emulators on PS2 (snes, genesis, mastersystem...) and praise how gorgeous it looked (despite everything else). It's good to know the technical reasons for this.

I just wonder one thing: if it's possible to Advance Mame process the video like this on a PC, why Xbox can't do the same thing.  blink.gif

Because Advmame access directly to the VGA pixel clock and the vga signals are driven directly to the TV with no other processing.

About lantus progress...I guess the image still interlaced, maybe if you change the vertical offset of every odd field by 1 pixel that could generate a pseudo low res progressive image, but im not sure. In that way maybe you could force every odd field share the same screen position than the even.

Btw, I was very very happy when I saw you included the ability to disable flicker filter on the last xsnes9x...I hate Xbox flicker filtering..it blurs everything...in fact I just compiled XBMC 1.0 with all flicker filters disabled smile.gif

Hehe, I also tought I was the only one, I´m happy to see I´m not alone..for me the change from ps2 to xbox was too hard...Xbox is sooooooooo blurry.
Probably the future IND-Bios release includes an universale flicker filter disabler so we dont have to mind about that anymore smile.gif

About how download my version....contact me on msn.

Should I make a torrent with this version? lol

Cya.

So, it needs to by-passes all the signal-degrading produced by the video converter. Well, I just hope that, someway, exist a solution for this, since all others methods to get the original resolution, unless you live in Europe, involves a lot of complicated things, like using a real arcade monitor. And even if you use the better option (a TV with rgb output), its still imply a lot of configuration, PC cards, OS, etc

Xbox doing that would be something extremely unique.

I'm can't wait to hear news about your progress Lantus!

Good Luck!

They are special bios to allow use a vga monitor throught a cable hack, and they are no useful at all.
The only way to obtain 100% real direct RGB signal from an Xbox is following the instructions at http://www.xbox-linu.../howtovga.html (from point 2.4) in order to bypass the video encoder. But in addition to this hardware hack you would need specially made version of every emulator, and low level coding the gpu, as the xdk cant setup low resolutions by itself.

Yes, but you don't really need to do this hack to get almost lossless original picture quality, do you ? I think that a component connection, for example, would give you the same quality. The main problem still remain in the software part. Go Lantus!  wink.gif

You didnt understand what that hack is about...that hack is neccesary not to get a better image quality, but to get direct access to the GPU dac instead the video encoder, so we can have full access to every possible resolution.
