Surreal Help!
« on: June 21, 2004, 01:34:00 PM »

Hi, I know there are a lot of Surreal 64 questions so I'm sorry for posting another one but it wasn't in any pins I saw. I installed Surreal 64 (the good one from xbins) onto my F drive lately (where my other emulators are). It shows up on my dashboard, but when I try to use it, it just brings up the Evo X symbol and freezes there. Even IGR wont work. I checked my evox .ini and surreal ini, all SEEMS to be in order, what could the problem be? Do I need to change the media directory in surreal ini? I'm confused why all my other emulators work great and this one just won't seem to work. I appreciate the help!

Thanks

Tim

Ya I did, but I wasnt getting no help. Yes ALL of my other emulators work. I'm pretty sure I have all the correct files too. There is supposed to be a bunch of ini files right? (1964, Prjoect 64 ect.) but I only change the surreal ini?

if its on your HD you`ll have to change the top 2 lines of text which shows
Rom Path=D:\Roms\
Media Path=D:\Media\
thats to run the emulator from a disk so i.e if your surreal is on f-drive and the folder is named Surreal and the roms folder and media are inside that folder then your text should look like this

Rom Path=F:\Surreal\Roms\
Media Path=F:\Surreal\Media\

hope thats correct

Okay.

This is 100% guarenteed to work.

If you have stuffed up the files on your xbox, go into the original dashboard.  Then go into the hard drive.  Now delete Surreal 64.  THis will delete all the sureal files on the e drive with out screwing your xbox.  You can use this for other programs you want to delete too.  Now delete the surreal folder, which you copied onto your xbox as well.  I put mine on the f drive.

Now you can start a fresh.

First download surreal 64 using mIRC under the #xbins channel.

Seccond change the Surreal.ini file to point to your roms folder.  Eg f/roms

Third FTP the folder onto your xbox.  Note that you have to change the ini file before you FTP to your xbox.

Okay, now you help me:

How do I keep my save games from other roms?

I had 54 stars in Mario 64 using PJ64-X!!!  I don't want to do it all again!!!

Just backup your mario savegame from the surreal folder in the e: drive.

I just put Surreal 64 on xbox.
The actual xbe loads fine but my Roms will not list

Here is what is in the surreal.ini file

Rom Path=F:\n64roms\
Media Path=E:\emulation\N64\Media\

When I lick the Refresh Arrow in Surreal it Flashes the words "Loading Rom List..."

Those are the correct paths for sure but im still puzzled.
Please Help

Okay, if you delete it in MSDash as described above, it will delete your game saves (i think) so be carefull there, it will also delete your settings and then your good to start a fresh.

If you are keeping your roms in the rom directory within the surreal directory then you do not need to change anything.

@ first poster - Have you got the latest BIOS?
What bios do you have?

there is a bios a few versions back that refused to work with surreal if i remember correcty.... this is all explained in the Pin as i remember
