How Do You Save Settings In Mame-x?

When using Mame-X, when I go into the rom settings and set eveything up, it does not keep my settings the next time I go into the game.

For example: I set up the buttons for Mortal Kombat and when I went back into Mame-X, I had to do it again. Also, is there any way to get rid of the annoying 'type OK to continue' and game info screen when the roms are loading?

Is there something I am not doing correctly?
