Why do you insist on calling it Megadrive?  Are you from Japan?  Are you very easily entertained?

Japanese names for exported products suck, in cars and consoles.

Megadrive is what we call it in europe and we always will because that was it's name.

It was a poor name but you can't teach old dogs new tricks.

As for you Yanks you call your trousers Pants so I wouldn't go to into it.

I'm bored because MAME is the most overrated piece of non-linux software in history, and Kawaks doesn't support half the games I like.

How could you call MAME overrated?  It's one of the most impressive projects I've ever seen, open-source or not!

And what games do you wish Kawaks would play?  It plays pretty much everything it was designed to play.

Good post by the original poster, though.  Lots of classics just waiting to be played!

MAME is overrated, the only thing it has going for it is borad compatability, other than that, every other emulator is superior.

Kawaks only plays neogeo and cps games, but obviously there's other arcade games out there.

I "insist" on calling it a Megadrive because I'm from the UK and that's what we call it here and the console itself is from Japan and that's what they call it, so why do you "insist" on calling it a Genesis, when it's obviously called a Megadrive?

LA!

I actually think everyone should call it what they want, but since it's original name is "Megadrive", I shouldn't have to justify calling it that.

LA!

Everyone should also play Crack Down on Megadrive.

BYEEEEE!!

PS: Does anyone know if NeoGenesis supports transparencies correctly? I ask because lots of games have alternating pixels in lines (not criss-cross patterns) that I'm sure are meant to be tranparent and solid, but I no longer have an actual Megadrive to check it out.

I assumed you were an american.  A lot of american gamers I see on boards say megadrive and famicom, and it's pretty annoying.

I really like Gens, and on PC they get saved right into C:\, which is sort of weak.  GensX probably does the same thing.

That's a travesty of a thing to say. Mame is a work of art more so than any other emulator because of it's goal to create as close to perfect emulation as is possible. The xbox just doesn't have enough grunt for newer games or enough memory. Virtual memory will eventually come to mame (probably added to drivers rather than a global solution) but it will never run soul edge at a decent framerate but foe me mame is still the most played arcade emu on my xbox (FBA a close 2nd) and I hate kawax because I always hit the right thumbstick and screw my game.
