QUOTE (Hitcher @ Apr 21 2004, 11:58 AM)

Was the Speccy well known in the USA?

It was vaguely known over here in computer nerd circles. Timex allegedly sold a fair number of ZX81s and ZX Spectrums around 81 and 82 before deciding to manufacture their own clones. The Timex Sinclair 1000 (a zedx81 clone) sold respectably here, but it's speccy clone counterpart the TS 2068 was an abysmal failure that was only partially compatible with the Spectrum, requiring an adapter for better results.

Dahak - How lucky for you then, that you are getting this chance to relive the birth of home computing and home gaming.

laugh.gif  Not quite... Spextrum dosn't seem to run on my NTSC xbox.

But as I've been using ZX Advance on my GBA for quite some time, I'm already familiar with the birth of _British_ home computing and home gaming. I already owned an Exidy Sorcerer, Atari VCS, and Bally Pro Arcade stateside before the Speccy was a twinkle in Sir Clive's eye.  wink.gif

Yeah, and America won us the War etc, blah!

Don't read into my comments as being Anglophobic. Considering where I was born, that would make me self-hating.  jester.gif

It's on the way.

TZX is looking doubtful for the next release to be honest. I've been working alot on improving the main emulation.

TZX is on my list though!

I'd request TZX support also - this seems to be the most used format these days and most of my collection is in this format. One enhancement I'd like to see in the distant future is the visible tape loading emulation as RealSpectrum supports

Both of these will probably be introduced around the same time, so keep watching this space! wink.gif

dunno if this is a bug or my emu is screwed up but when i goto 48K mode and use the virtual keyboard i get the +2 k/b..not that its a major problem but just thought u might wanna know

Is that when you choose the 48K Mode from the 128K menu?

Or is it when selecting 48K Mode from the left thumb stick menu?

If it's the former then it is meant to be like that - the keyboard that is displayed is determined by the machine type selected (e.g. 48K, 128K, Plus 2). It isn't affected by any changes that go on internally in the spectrum software.

Think about it - if you are using a real 128K speccy and go into 48K mode - you don't suddenly get a 48K keyboard! wink.gif

If it's the second one then there is something bizarre going on - there's no way that should happen!

Just to keep you guys posted - progress has been amazing in the last couple of weeks - I think you'll all be pleased with the new version when it's ready! smile.gif
