Networking Issue
« on: August 09, 2004, 11:04:00 AM »

My environment.

XBOX ver 1.1
XeniumICE OS2.0 Beta (pinhead install)
Windows XP on the laptop
Tested/Good Crossover Cable
Using ICEGUIDE.PDF for instructions on how to setup networking

My Issues.

Using the XeniumOS to configure network settting (IP/Sub) I am unable to "restart network".  I get an error stating that the attempt to restart the network has failed.  BUT, it did keep my IP/Sub changes after reboot.  My XBOX plays fine in LAN based games.

I have been unable to make a FTP connection from my XP machine to the XBOX.

Otherwise everything is working fine.  I've been able to load a BIOS from using the USB connector and a thumb drive.  But need to install a dash from harddrive.

Could anyone direct me to detailed tips regarding my issues or offer and suggestions.

Thanks for the input.  I did check that.

I finally gave up on the XeniumIce built in FTP and did the process of doing a bootup CDRW and used the EvoFTP server.  Got it all working.  Should have known better than to depend on a beta version OS for doing it all.

Else, I totally missed something on the iceguide.pdf I was following.  After all I am a nOOb.

the FTP server of the OS 2.0 beta didn't worked for me,
Flashed the bios back to 1.1 and installed the EVO FTP with a cd and now everything works fine

I think it would be safe to say that it isn't working in all situations.  Perhaps Xbox versions have something to do with it.  OR Xenium batch.  All I know is that I did the EvoX FTP and it worked without me changing my setting on the PC.

I've seen replies to my www.ozxodus.com posting claiming to have the same issue while others had no trouble.

In any case I can use EvoX to handle everything.  Although it's been suggested that I use  Unleashx or Avalanch for faster transfers.

I had the same error when setting up my network using the ice guide but the problem was I didn't read it carefully enough when it said to change the option to "Using Static IP"

After changing the setting to "Using Static IP" it worked fine.
