Perfect Silent Hill Emulation?
« on: January 09, 2004, 09:10:00 PM »

I got a copy of silent hill for the playstation one.  It's shown on the compatibility listings that it should work fine however I'm getting pretty bad graphics and I think bad framerates.  What settings should be used in PCSXbox.  I've also tried running this on a hacked version of Bleemcast but that also has errors.

I got it working quite well but that was with version 1 (Which is based on a different pcsx core) Frameksip on I think that was it.

I miss Version 1 but it no longer works on my XBOX since I've made all these updates and what not. Granted EVERY OTHER program runs fine except V1-3.

Nothing works anymore on the PSX emu hardly, and those that do sometimes lock up the XBOX at random, or have a lot of sound garbage when the game fist starts. I hope when there is an update for the PC, that the XBOX counter part comes back and takes care of the many building issues that I've been having since I left V1 behind.

guitardork864, what version do you use?  I downloaded the latest one and I can't even get Thrill Kill to work :P  Any links to game-specific settings?

I use v11, but then again, I haven't tried thrill kill.  Ive tried RE1, RE2, RE3, FF7, FF9, Chrono Cross, Silent Hill, thats all i can remember, and they all worked, except for silent hill which had some sound skipping.

Is there anything special I have to change from the default settings to get FF7, FF9, Chrono Cross, and Silent Hill to work?  The only games I can get to work are a couple of Bish Bashi games.  I tried Chrono Cross a while back, but it locked up when I hit start on the title screen :(

BTW, how well do those games run (frame rate, sound, FMV)?  The only game that I've seen running on PCSXBOX is Castlevania: SotN ... Which is great, but there's sooo many other PS1 games that I'd love to play in progressive scan/optical sound on my home theater rig.  Thanks in advance for any help!

You might want to try deleting your current PCSXbox on your xbox and reinstalling it, incase you've been installing over previous versions.  Chrono Cross, and FF7 I have been able to run with default settings.

Chrono Cross stays at about 23fps, it does get down to 12-13 sometimes, but its definately playable.  I finished it in one weekend on PCSXbox.

FF7 runs PERFECTLY, EXCEPT during battles, you can't see the hand pointing at targets and stuff, fortunately theres a little glitch that shows a picture of who your pointing at in the corner of the screen, so you can definately get by.

Silent Hill, I think yoiu just gotta fool aaround with the CPU settings.  Same for RE

I too can't get SH to work past the KONAMI screen - seems like the old issue with older epsxe's. Can't be bothered for xbox as epsxe 1.6 run perfectly with all options turned high!
