Ohh, I have a new problem. (or at least, it's new for me)
I used to play my N64-roms with Surreal64 all the time. But since I updated XBMC to one of the more recent T3Ch-versions it doesn't run anymore.
All I get is a black screen. Is this a common problem? All I replaced was the E:\APPS\XBMC-folder.

Hey everyone, I wanted to download the latest Surreal xxx and trying every site listed in google and subsites from those sites I have had no results. I simply cannot find where to download Surreal xxx b5 except at xbox-scene and there you have to have a membership to download it. I was able to download the source code but the source code was too buggy to be compiled. Will anyone please send me a link or let me know how I can get surreal xxx 64 b5? Thanks a lot.

No what I meant, was to check out the thread that is stickied and at the top of the emulators section... the one that basically says to read before you post any stupid questions... it's not a very complicated process but might be new to you, it was for me when i first started getting stuff from that usual place.

I checked that and now I see why you told me to read that. Thanks. However, to download surreal xxx in the sticky post it says to first connect to xbins in an irc client. Well I followed directions perfectly and xbins channel must not exist anymore. Also, I have gone to the xbins channel before, using the irc client mirc. So I don't think it exists anymore. I tried 2 times, with 2 different ways of connecting. Anyhow, my question remains - where can I download surreal xxx b5?

xbins does still exist... was on there just today.  biggrin.gif make sure you're connected to the correct server.

I was able to ftp to xbins today. I looked through the xbox folder and sub directories but did not find any emulators for the xbox, only 2 emulators for the pc. So does anyone know where I could get Surreal xxx b5?

I cannot believe this bullshit! I cant even get a very developed emulator anywhere.

Hey everyone, for those who sent me links to surreal xxx thanks a lot! The reason I wanted a newer surreal xxx was to be able to actually save and load Zelda games successfully. I was very dissappointed with the new version. Just like the old version of surreal xxx the new version could not successfully load saved zelda games. Would anyone please give me some information on how to fix my problem? Thank you everyone!

I know this has been addressed again and again, but I still cannot get the emulator to pull up a ROM list.

I have a soft modded xbox.
Surreal64 is in E:\apps\emu\surreal64
ROMS are in E:\apps\emu\surreal64\roms

My surreal.ini has had the media directory erased and it has been erased at the file level (as per another post I read to get the roms up). I have my rom folder in the surreal.ini set to E:\apps\emu\surreal64\roms. All of my ROMS have .z64 extensions.

If anyone could shed some light on what Im doing wrong I would be greatly appreciative.

When I load surreal 64 it just loads the menu... no roms. I have all the roms inside E/emus/Surreal64_FDB_v2/roms and i have modified the surreal.ini to find it there but it still dosent load the roms... anyone have an idea what the problem might be

Hello,

I'm beginning to wonder if anyone has ever gotten Surreal 64 to work with a stock hard drive using drive "E:\".  There's about 4 people experiencing what seems to be the exact same problem and I recall after having modded my brother's XBox and leaving the drive stock that we had the exact same problem.  None of the roms would show up.  I couldn't figure it out and just gave up on it.

That was about 8 months ago.  I forgot about that until now.

It's definately there man.  They're all there.   I'm not sitting in front of my home computer right now, so what I type here might be a little off, but you should be able to figure it out.

XBox\console\apps\emulators\surreal

Actually, I'm sure that's not correct, but the point is you're going to have to go in the applications folder to find the emulators.  Personally, I wouldn't have set it up that way and I would have made emulators seperate from applications like XBMC does.

First post- I know, I know... You're used to noobs flooding the forums with questions answered in the stickies..
Not the case, here.

I'm running a softmodded NTSC 320GB HD v1.6 XBOX with XBMC as my default dash.
I FTP with FlashFXP.
I have the latest Surreal. (Beta 5)
I have a GoodRomset.
I have edited the Surreal.ini in both the emulator folder as well as the savegame folder.
I see my roms.
I can play my roms. (some, anyway)

My problem: I want to plat South Park: Chef's Luv Shack.

Checked the compatibility thread - game has not been tested. :\

Made it load with basic audio. No go.
Unzipped it. No go.
Replaced the rom with another verified working dump. Nope.
Tried all three emulators in Surreal: made it to the player select screen in PJ64, then it froze.

I have looked high and low for a solution to make this game work. Anyone have any ideas?

Any help is much appreciated.

some people have said that certain games load on that emu that wont on later versions of surreall.

I am a real nubcake with the Emulators so here i go..
1) When I try to load it gives me like 3 emulators the play, and on 2 it gives a video codec, which do I use?
2) How do I save my game progress?

Thanks

I think I just found a bug in Surreal xxx:

the 1964 emulator seems to be using the Project64 setting for paging memory!

Try it, set 1964 paging to 0 for a game, and then run it, logically it shouldn't be able to even start, but it does, now exit the game and set Project64 paging to 0, the game will now hang at startup... This method is to prove a point ofcourse, you can also experience it using other settings.

Same problem with B4.95 and B5...

I'm on a softmodded 1.6 XBOX.

So for everyone having problems with Mario Kart 64 (wich is the game that made me find this problem): set Project64 paging memory to 8 (since 4 makes it lag at the start of a race), and 1964 dynarec to 8, then run with 1964 and Rice 5.60, the game will now run perfectly.

The same happens for other games as well, so it's not a game-specific bug (if that were even possible for something like this).

Unfortunately, I'm not that good of a programmer, so I won't be able to fix this myself using the sourcecode, but maybe someone else has the skills to fix it even after development on Surreal64 xxx has stopped.

It would be great if someone could confirm this, and maybe even fix it biggrin.gif .

1)different games run better on certain emus,so just play around until you find the best one,the video codec is just to improve emulation.
2)when your playing ingame click down on the right analouge stick and go to game savestate and you can save your progress from there.

Can you use the latest Project64.rdb v1.7 (rom database) with Surreal64 XXX or does the RDB bundled with Surreal64 XXX only work?

Here is the latest RDB:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/c8lg45

I can't test it as my Xbox HDD has failed so I'm in the process of restoring a backup.
