Need Help With Kawa-x
« on: January 06, 2004, 07:34:00 AM »

Hey guys, I just started trying to use Kawa-x and can't seem to get it to load any roms. I will try and be as detailed as possible with what I have done thus far. I installed kawa in f:/apps/neogeo, I ftped over a baseball stars 2 zip, as well as all of the unzipped files (some of which I renamed per the instructions on other threads/sites) to the roms directory.I also downloaded neogeo.zip and ftped that into the roms directory(although I did not unzip the contents).  What happens is when I run kawa-x and try to launch baseball stars I get an error stating "error: Can't Load 041-m1.bin (b2611c03)". What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!

Well that error is specific to the roms M1 file (within the zip) apparently it is the wrong size or non-existent.

test another neogeo rom and see if that loads for you.

all your stuf should be ZIPPED
roms (gamename.zip)
and bios (neogeo.zip)
all in the same ROMS directory or wherever you tell it to look for the roms

good luck, its a kickass neogeo emu

Hmm, I tried sending over two other roms that I downloaded from other sources and I keep getting similar errors. I've also double checked the contents of the neogeo.zip and the files seemed to be named properly. What now?

You've most likely got bad romsets.
Might want to try some CPS1 and CPS2 games just to make sure it's not a NeoGeo specific problem.

Also note -- some of the games require two romsets to run if I remember correctly.

Well it looks like I had a corrupted or incomplete kawa-x rar archive from the very outset. I downloaded it again from another source, reinstalled the emulator and used the same roms, and now it works like a charm!
