Surreal 64 V1.0 Released
« Reply #120 on: January 10, 2004, 11:42:00 AM »

These emulators are PORTED to the xbox. This means they were originally wrote for windows (in this case). 1964, PJ64 and UltraHLE are all originally ran under windows. They use a plugin system where you can use different graphics , sounds, or input plugins with the emulator.

Rice makes a Graphics plugin. This is the best opensource plugin availible, and the only one used in Surreal (other than UltraHLE, which does not use a plugin system).

Rice's latest plugin (for WINDOWs mind you) is 5.3.1. It fixes alot of issues, specifically the one mentioned above. You can see yourself by downloading 1964, and selecting rice's plugin and playing the game.

However until the sources are ported to the xbox, and compiled into the surreal xbe's, you will not be able to use it.

It's a framebuffer problem with Mario Tennis, I believe non of the present plugins except Rice's 5.3.0 onwards don't suuport this feature.

This is a shot from Rice 5.3.0 using 1964 on the PC. It's going to crawl at points though, during replays etc. because the framebuffer effects cane the computer that's why the horrific slowdown in the cutscenes. Main game plays fine now and hopefully will still play fine with the shadows.

On another note I was surprised how well Mario Golf plays this is another title that no plugin has got right yet (Except for Gonetz's Glide64 WIP but we've got to wait for that).

I'm having a small Screen Size issue with the Menu in Surreal. The right side gets cut off and the All/Fav/Refresh buttons are almost completely cut off.
Is there away to resize the sceen?

How did you get this fixed. I am having this issue w/ surreal and my EVOX skins

I thinkg Iriez meens the next coming release when he wrote "latest", there has only been ONE release of Surreal64 yet.

i think he meant the latest version of the rice plugin, and by you don't fix it, you wait for it to be fixed, i think he meant wait for odd and lantus to port it (i'm not sure if the source is even available to port it yet)

What the hell am I doing wrong?

I have the latest bios (4983), executor 2 pro. using Evox as the dash.

I can start the emu, see all of the 20 or so roms on the drive, when I select the rom (doesn't matter which, I have tried them all) they load anywhere from 50-87% then WHAMO.....black screen. uhh.gif

I too got the black screen. Where I got mine.... the "usual places", had two folders. One that was patched and one that was not. I tried one, and everthing worked until the game was loaded. Black screen. So, I did the other, and it worked.

I GUESS it has something to do with your bios. Try the usual places, and you will find two of them. One should work (?).

Has there been any updates on the status of the next version of Surreal lately?

I haven't checked the forums much since February, but I check the news page everyday (mainly just for Surreal) and have heard nothing.

Have I missed anything?  What's the word?  Is it being developed?  Is it near completion?  Is there an estimated time of release?
