I have never seen a post by lantus ever before, so I genuinely come into this with no biases.  I also have no public opinion on whether he should or should not disclose the sources to the software, so throw that out the window, too.

That being said, I know what Sir Auros is saying - that lantus should try to be a bit more open-minded about suggestions made by his userbase.  If someone asks why he doesn't release the sources, I'd take that to be a genuine inquiry.  It looks as though lantus interpreted that as a gauntlet being thrown.

While I do think it would be more appropriate that lantus be a bit more polite to loyal users of his software who are only trying to learn more about it, it's also his choice how he wants to act.  If Joe Developer wants to release great software and tell everyone they suck, who can tell them to act any differently?

Anyway, Sir Auros, try not to let it bother you in the future.  It's tough to say someone brings the scene down when they put out software.  Mouthing off keeps them from being a god among men; it doesn't cause anyone any harm.

hey Sir Auros, I totally understand your point, and I agree with you. Some developers really do have a bad attitude, and it's not just in this "scene" either. What makes it so bad in this scene is the blatant suck-ups and ass-kissers. They are the ones that put the developers up on their high horses, so to speak. If somebody creates a simple thread/post asking a question or making a genuine comment about an emulator, or even an upcoming emulator, the poster gets bombarded with flames and attacked by little weasels that have no lives. Then their previously fine thread gets locked.
Dont get me wrong though, there are some developers in this scene that really seem like nice people. First person that comes to my mind is oDD. Treats users and members with respect. Anyways, thats just my thoughts on the matter.

He was just kidding around. Lantus is one of the more easy going sensible people i know. He's a dev on the PC original counterpart, and its 100% his agenda as to whether he wants his sources available.

On another note, him, like me, see such places as a source of humour. Sometimes we see such ridiculous topics as "Where can i get the source of these eumus" and we just laugh.

With that taken into context, is it so wrong to give a smartass/funny reply? Its a joke for crying out loud! You may say "all i ask is for him to be civil", but who says he needs to be civil to you? So far i've seen 95% flame, and 5% calm posting from you. What does he owe you as far as attitude? What does he owe anyone?

Im a jerk and i know it. I have no plan's to change my life to suit some kids on the internet. Here...let me restructure my life because a few forum kids are crying since i closed their thread.

I think the real question is...

Why do YOU care? Are you hurt because lantus didnt give a happy happy joy joy attitude? What crusade are you on, that you feel obligated to do nothing but bitch and whine over how developers are mean? You are here by choice. They are here by choice. Your wishes dont mean anything to the majority of us, so why the preaching?

Yes, he's your friend, so he's a sacred cow, but he's not that easy-going and I've seen him more than any other developer in this forum act like a jerk to people often without provocation. Given the way he's acted in the past, the only way I could see there being lines to read between would be if one were in the context of knowing him well, and seeing as we're on an online messageboard, I doubt the lines are all that easy to read. However, there are some amazing things to emote online and they're called smilies, they can be found to the left of one's text boxes and you use them when you're not being serious because there's no way to emphasize whether or not something is to be taken in jest like you can in spoken English. Also, again, the whole most people don't know him as well as you do and therefore simply cannot know how something like that's to be taken without smilies.

AND, as I said before, I wasn't criticizing him for not releasing the source, but for the attitude problem.

Iriez, with this post has pretty much shown me that I've been acting like a dick for assuming things are still the way I had always seen them in the past.

In the end, the way he treats people, good or bad doesn't affect me unless he disrespects me and for this reason I alone I really shouldn't pester him.

Now, let's get back to the drinking!
