Beginners Guide To Xbox Emulation

I agree. If i had time to do it myself instead of pointing to some other tutorial i would simply step through it myself. Unfortunately that would take quite a long time to write.

...and would be a total waste of time. Why would you reinvent the wheel? For example, there already are lots of guides on how to modify your xbox, there really is no need to write another one (at least not when the guide is supposed to be about emulation on the xbox). This is the wonderful thing about the world wide web, you can link to another page so that you get there by the push of a button. If you are too lazy to do that, then you probably are too lazy to read in the first place.

Progress is made by building on other peoples work. Not by re-doing it every time.

EDIT: Forgot some 'o's =)

Sent a PM to Apoc' some time ago in reply to his input, but as this have started a discussion, I'd like to let my opinion be known.

Hi
Thanks for your reply on the forum.

Thanks for the Emu help BUT........ the your help doc needs a little work.. instead of saying go here and go there u might wanna actully tell the peeps how to do it. Some ppl just is not as smart as others.

Please note that this guide isn't meant as a "please-hold-my-hand-uncle-Zyyke" walkthrough. It is meant as a repository of basic xbox emulation knowledge. The amount of knowledge stored in the forum is huge, and not taking advantage of it by linking, is in my opinion arrogant and a potential waste of time. And I have to say - if people are so intellectual challenged that they can't use the links, they should stay away from xbox modification!

I was however wondering what you meant by the "your help doc" - the whole shebang or just some section(s) of the Beginner guide? Would really appreciate more specific feedback - and actual suggestions (text to put into the guide) would be even better!

The only thing that I can se this guide is lacking is a step-by-step guide on installation & configuration of the different emulators. But as the author I am also somewhat blind to the faults in my own product. So - if you have suggestions for new content, please send the to me and I'll evaluate and incorporate them into the guide (of course you'll be credited in the end-text). Or if it is extensive and a completly "new" topic, post them as a thread, and I'll consider linking to it.

Catch you later!

And this goes for all of you .. suggestions for additions to this guide? Please let me know. I would rather have a guide that is a combined effort from all the participants, than a crusty, out-of date document that no-one bothers to read.

I was think that maybe a FAQ section after the guide with more specific information would be a nice addition. Questions like

"Why doesn't Kawa-X see my roms?"
"Why doesn't MAMEoX see my roms?"
"Does your FFIX also hang on FMVs in PCSXbox?" etc etc.

There are lots of questions about certin games and emulators that you can't cover in a guide (well you could, but there would be no natural place for that kind of information).
This FAQ would obviously do a lot of linking to the MAMEoX FAQ and the FAQs at XPorts and Lantus pages.

If you think this is a good idea, then I'd be glad to help.

I think this is a great ide. The more helpfull information this guide contains, the better.

I also agree that a FAQ link section would be the best way to add this kind of information. It is after all a beginners guide, and this way people will get a short introduction to xbox emulation (like the guide is today), but also the opportunity to delve deeper into the specifics from one common starting-point.

Unfortunatly, I am still new to xbox emulation. Beginners guide is one thing - I've recently been there myself and therefore have this information "fresh" in my mind. But I haven't touched upon PS1, N64 and MAMEoX emulation yet, and therefore don't know enough to write something informative on the subject.

So in short: any links or new posts that would be appropriate in a FAQ section included in this guide, would be appreciated. This goes both to you kvajnto and everyone else that feel they can contribute.
