Xsnes9x 141-1
« on: November 17, 2003, 02:45:00 AM »

I tested the new wip version of xsnes9x and it is really great.
It does support trackker music. yippi :) XM, S3M, IT, MOD
This is really really great because they sounds much better then SID Music.
FOr all who don'T know, XM,S3M,IT,MOD files are music files made by tracker programms.
THe music is like AMIGA MUSIC from great demos and games.

The graphics are much more like the one from the real snes know. Somehow it looks all nicer.

Thank you Lantus for this great release

I have just tried it. Great work Lantus.  Do you plan on adding samba on any further releases?

The new xSNES9x rocks, and despite it being in WIP stage I haven't found many bugs. (read = any) The new graphics filter make the graphics seem that much better.

I've noticed one 'error' in Seiken Densetsu 3 - I'm not even sure if you can call it an error - if you have AdvanceMAME or any other graphics filter enabled, the sound timing will be off-key whenever Seiken Densetsu 3 switches from low-resolution to high-resolution (whenever a text message appears). When it switches back to low-resolution, the music timing is fine. The framerate stays at 60fps, however - even in high res mode. (so I don't think it has to do with the Xbox not being fast enough to interpolate the hi-res image x2)

Perhaps a dirty hack could be implemented - whenever one of the graphics filters is enabled, lo to hi resolution switching (such as in SD3) should be disabled.

the issue is very much the cause of filters. Because its in high res - as you correctly pointed out - the xbox is struggling a bit.

this is one of the reasons why im not a big fan of software filters.

the 'hack' you mentioned seems possible -  in fact they do this in Win32 Snes9x. However because your going from filter X to No filter you will still notice some kind of translation in the pixels. Im not sure how good this would look but ill investigate.

Lantus, can we be expecting HDTV support anytime soon?  I can only imagine how much better this emulator would look like at 480p.  I apologize if it is indeed in this new WIP build as I haven't had the chance to test it.

with regards to HDTV..its been in xSnes9x for quite some time now. Some people swear it doesnt work for them while others claim it works perfectly (even 1080i).

Personally i dont own a HDTV, its very difficult coding "blind" in this fashion - id love to hear feedback from HDTV users how the new build works for them

I know my TV is odd so let me ask if this happens to anyone while playing Chrono Trigger.

In some areas like on the world map the screen position is at full screen just as I had set it.

When you are at Chronos house or at the Millinium fair it seems as if the screen position moves because I get a black bar at the bottom for 3/4 of the screen.

I have not expirenced this in any of the other games I have tried.

Does this happens in someones else TV?
