Just A Thought About Svc Emu Or Dp
« on: November 10, 2003, 02:20:00 PM »

Hello, I've been reading the posts about the SvC thing & i respect what some of u r trying 2 say on both sides of the issue.  But think about this. How many Modded PS2 systems r floating around ? Now as soon as they release that game (SvC) U & every1 else that reads this post know that it'll b up all over the web for download. Just like the xbox games. That ps2 game is gonna get ripped & raped for free.  I mean... I understand the thing about not supporting the winkawaX version but, come on fellas.  This game on the PS2. a Lot of people that have a mod for that system (Most of u already have) will no doubt  either download or rip it yourselves.  Ever heard the saying if u can't beat them join them?. The now how about a xbox version of the same game. That way both sides will win. Now there r gonna b some who buy, some who won't buy (Most wont buy).  The Point is if  SvC is put on the PS2 it's gonna get hacked that way also.  So let this sink in.  We xbox users just want that game 2 play on our boxes. It's gonna happen sooner r later , But with it comming out on the ps2 , it'll happen a whole lot easier with a modded ps2. Just rent, rip play it. Now whose the bad guy on that 1?  They're gonna lose money either way since there r more ps2 systems than xbox.

P.S.DP - means Direct Port (of a game)

u can learn something from everybody smile.gif.

Have you ever heard the term WAREZ?

This isn't a warez website, or forum.  And there are many people in the xbox community that aren't warez monkeys.

Would you like it if all of the programmers left this scene because the warez kiddiez ran everyone off?

When will people like you get it through your head that what you are talking about is WAREZ and that this website doesn't cater to idiots looking for ways to warez games.

No one is even trying to tell you not to be a lame ass warez monkey.  What we're saying is that this forum isn't the place for warez, and the more morons we have talking about warez subjects here,  the more people like Mr. K,  Lantus, and Xport, take notice and give up on the scene.

It doesn't look good to newcomers when they come to this site and all they see are children begging for free, pirated games.

I can't believe all the fuss that's being made over yet another run-of-the-mill fighting game... there are already a dozen games just like it that run on the Xbox.

As for being a software pirate (or pirette perhaps in my case happy.gif). I pirate games 'cos I can, whether it be 10 years old or 10 days old, there's no difference. And there are more than enough ppl who don't possess the intelligence to do so to keep the software companies in business for many years to come.
Not that I personally would care if the games industry died tomorrow, all the new games I've played seem to suck. Perhaps a little less revenue would knock things back to basics when games were about gameplay rather than fancy FMV.

Not a popular view of things I'm sure, but if it isn't a legal issue (since all of our rom collections are technically illegal) then it's a moral one, and morality is subjective...  tongue.gif

[Broken Record]
Warez doesn't make coders leave the scene (the XDK is pirated, for Christ's sake), the lack of a legal XDK does. It's funny to hear all this rhetoric against piracy when, in technicality, all the emulators, apps, and homebrew software developed so far are just as much intellectual theft as copying a game for free.
[/Broken Record]

EDIT: One point to concede upon... it doesn't cost as much money to the gaming industry to develop with the leaked XDK as it does to rip a game.

I fail to see that this thread, in line with recent Kawa-X/SvC threads
in this forum, does anything else than piss people off.

The fact is that Mr.K asked people to respect his wishes that Kawa-X did not support newer games, or AT LEAST (as I've understood it), blatantly flaunt the fact that they have found work-arounds to all and everybody on this forum! That some choose to ignore this is unfortunate for everyone, as we have seen.

My point is that emulation's main goal (in my opinion) is not to promote pirated games, but make old(er) games available for people to play again without the original hardware. What "warez-pirate" in his right mind would use time and effort on getting and playing old
Intellivision/NES/Lucasart games, if not for nostalgic reasons.
Unfortunatly a lot of people see emulation as a means of getting new games from currently sold consoles playable on their machine/console. This is evident by the massive amounts of PS2/XBOX/GC emulator requests.

I do not expect people to agree with me, mainly because I believe than there on this subject will be as many opinions as there is people. Therefore we will never have constructive discussions, or reach any form of conclusion, and the thread (an those like it) are pointless.

The best we can hope for is to agree to disagree, and move requests for hacks and the like, to another forum? And please bring back the pinned topic to inform any new user of this forum who does not know the function of the search button!!

That's it for my 2 cents.

Not "as much". It costs *nothing*.

No one loses money because joe wants to download a XDK meant for developers to build a mame port. MS loses not a single cent. One could argue that joe's mame port motivated more people to purchase a xbox and enevitiably software, which would end up *making* MS money.

You might wonder why they dont crack down on the homebrew scene?

Yea, i can just see MS now...

YOU are the bad guy. Along with anyone else who does that.

If your not a moron, then you need to display so by comprehending a simple point.

Warez is warez.

This is just semantics, although the law is unable to differentiate between pirating something 10 days old and 10 years old. Doesn't mean you're not, it's quite simple we all know that when we play an old game on an emulator we are very unlikely to buy the game and even if we did the original developers would get nothing for it (If you have to buy it 2nd hand). Most people only play games they used to own on emulators anyways so they've already paid they're dues (Unless they pirated it the first time). Of course if you were selling warez the law would take into account loss of earning which would be zero for a game no longer available.

They're is a moral distinction any reasonably intelligent human being can make, you can justify it to yourself however you want but we all know deep downs warez are wrong. I'm not saying I've never pirated anything but at the same time every really good game I've ever played (For the home market) I've owned on one format or another. Maybe my viewpoint is influenced because I've several friends who work in the games industry and it's not all rolling in cash.

All because you have no respect foor tthe law (Which is understandable) doesn't mean you shouldn't respect the people who programmed them.

I admit the industry is stagnant at the mo but they're have been classics for the xbox Soul Calibur 2 comes to mind i think Sega are gods though and I still play my DC more than I play Xbox games. (4 player Power Stone 2)
