Thanks Xport! Has anyone tried it yet and seen whether or not it fixes skipping during gameplay as well?

chux - there is a v4_to_v5 package which just the new XBE and a new INI file.

browll - RTFM

strider - you told me something?

melkia - just upload the entire thing and ignore any filename that it says are too long.  There are already converted/shortened versions of those files in the package.

deleeuw - Explain yourself.  I haven't seen any skipping during gameplay.

Oh, In version 3 of Stepmania it will be in the middle of a song and it will skip forward a little bit, making it kinda hard to get high scores. It usually happens about once every other song or once per song if two people are playing. I haven't tried 4 or 5 yet so I am not sure if it carries this over.

It's a bug in the recent cvs's of stepmania, so you're screwed until a new version fixes it.
It's not xport's fault

Xport: Hate to bump this old thread as it's not exactly related but I thought you would be pleased to hear  that Stepmania X has been mentioned in a British videogame publication called Edge. This is a quote from this months' Xbox special ( I was surprised by the pro stance on emulation in general):

'Equip can't support or justify the piracy of MS's XDK, but a chipped Xbox does provide an opportunity to look at the work of those who have. An increasing number of people are using the system as 'The New Yaroze', porting old games such as Doom and Quake across and performing polygonal takes on old classics. And while no game is really worth the cost of chipping on its own - with the possible exception of the Xbox port of Stepmania - they're a welcome bonus, and possibly a glimpse of some of the coding talent of tomorrow.

Would've been nice if they would've mentioned your handle though.
