Vice64X Commodore 64 Emulator port for XBox v2

http://xport.xbox-scene.com

http://viceteam.bei.t-online.de/

http://www.gb64.com

Huge thanks to J-RED for another excellent skin!

What's New :

- Gamebase64 Support (read docs below for configuration/setup)

- Virtual Keyboard - go to Controller Configuration / UI Mappings to select
the button combo that will bring up the Virtual Keyboard while in-game.

- Defaults to PAL instead of NTSC and Joystick port 2 instead of 1 since
  these are more sane values.

- Swapping joysticks is now a controller-configurable action.  Default is
LEFT_TRIGGER to swap joysticks while in game.  Go to Controller Configuration -
  Game Mappings to change it.

- Can now save any string setting (like Samba/Relax share names) and directory
locations via menus.  To change Samba/relax share names, go to Configuration ->
Network/Netplay Configuration.  To change the default directories, go to
  Configuration -> Change Default Directories

- Fixed bug preventing some carts from working.

- Play SIDs in background

- Music Control Menu - press LTHUMB anywhere to bring up the music control menu.
This is also a customizable controller action while in-game.  Configure it
via the Controller Configuration -> UI Mappings menu.

- Can enter descriptions for cheat codes using virtual keyboard or real keyboard.

A mate and I were playing with it on the weekend (we clocked Creatures II... yaay!) and thought "Gee it'd be good if we could swap joy ports mid-emulation... and a virtual keyboard would be handy... and its pretty silly to have NTSC and port 1 as the defaults... hopefully Xport might change it soon... he's a good bloke."

... and then BAM! It was on like Donkey Kong, yo!

Xport. You are our hero. Cheers.

Just one question. In V1 we found that there were times when the Xbox would freeze and would need to be reset via the on/off switch (IGR wouldn't work). Has this happened to anyone else? Is it an inherant problem in Vice or has it been fixed in this version or ... hmm.. yeah..

Great, really needed that one. I have this bloody annoying image of Thrust, where some lame fool decided to ask "Are you sure Y/N?" after the intro 3 or 4 times. Still haven't got around to mapping Y and N to controller buttons and then saving the state.

It's almost as if you guys are reading my mind.

One thing that I have come across is that all my images are in the TOSEC format & cleaned up using Romcenter. This creates a lot of really long filenames with game name, year, publisher, cracker, disk number etc. I wish the xbox would allow longer filenames... a small price to pay I guess.

Thanks for all your work on such an awesome emulator. "The usual places" here I come!

Wow! I didn't really get what Gamebase64 was all about until I tried this. Add in the new virtual keyboard and I'm floored. Thanks Xport!

Is there anyway you could add in the ability to access disks other than the ones included in the zip from within gamebase? For example, if I play Pool of Radiance, I have to use a Save Game disk. This cannot be included in the zip, because it must not be write protected. But from Gamebase, when you change a disk from the in-game menu, you can only access the current gamebase directory (and then, specifically filezips associated with the database).

How about adding in the ability to access d64's in the same letter directory as the game accessed? This way if you access Pool of Radiance from p2 and there was also a disk called  poolsave.d64 in the same directory, you could access it when changing disks.

Dahak, if my memory is any good, GameBase64 on the PC automatically unzips a multi-disk game and plays from the unzipped version. Then it rezips the files after you finish in case you made changes to the disks.

It would be great if Vice64x could have similar functionality.

That could have unwanted side effects though. Some protections like the one on Legacy of the Ancients would actually erase the boot program if you ran the disk without it being write protected. Even the versions that were broken (i.e. code-wheel cracked) didn't eliminate that protection.

As it stands, Vice64X treats zipped files as write protected, which is in my opinion a good thing. If it gave the option to write enable or write protect on a case by case basis, that would be cool though. I don't know how hard that would be to implement though.

Great port, played Gamebase64 games on it and it works flawless.

One thing I would like to see is the layout of the virtual keyboard to be that of the C=64 instead of an AT-keyboard.
