the release works, but for me quite instable. dosbox crashed already a few times after initialising the sound driver (right after i boot into the emu), igot a 1.0 xbox with and lpc an the x2 4977 bios on it.

one request i have to make is to map the f drive also. im using this drive for main data/programm/emu storage.

CODE
the next problem i have ist, that i can't use my mouse (which works perfekt with scummvmx).

is a mouse support allready implemented?
solved

other things i realized

the resized screen won't be saved
and my dvd drive isn't mapped correctly (at the startup dosbox tries to mount it as drive r: and fails to succeed (do i have to insert a cd to get the drive mounted, i don't think so))

so far, not perfect...

@the DOTT gamers

when u start the game, the sound is flickering, is there already the opportunity to get this fixed with frameskips.. edit: if you disable speech, the bgm will run a bit more fluent.
--

if not: im glad that dos runs on my xbox, but the emulation still seems to be far to slow to play any 386 game (which of course isn't your fault xport!)...

Full Throttle is kinda flaky...it runs off my DVD-RW of DOS games with no audio (I expected that), and off the HD after installation, but audio is pretty skippy and I suspect the video is a bit slow...but it's still faster than Bochs.

Nice work, though.  I'm still impressed :-P ScummVMx was my only hope for running Full Throttle on my Xbox, but now this seems like it will prove better (since there's no SCUMM emulation at all...just DOS, lol).

I'll test Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Dig, and Sam and Max Hit the Road after I sleep...it's almost 7 AM (EST) and getting pretty light out...

BTW, I made my DVD-RW work by taking all the data from within the roots of the game CDs and copying them to a directory  DOSGAMES directory on my Mac's hard drive.  For the most part, there were no filename conflicts, except for readme's (trash 'em) and the SUPPORT folders.  I just took the various files from the support folders of the DOS games and combined them into the main SUPPORT folder in my DOSGAMES directory.  Make xiso with XBox Backup (thanks trackfive!) and burn to DVD-RW.  No problems with it yet.  (I just hope they didn't code something to check if a certain support file exists which normally doesn't, but will because of my screwing around with it....but I seriously doubt it)

@lantus now ive done that.

some more things i noticed:

when i click on a mouse button in dos mode, i have a 50% chance to crash the emu. (the "_" doesnt blink any more.)
in game, when im clicking on a mouse button, nothing happens, or the game crashes. (ive used DOTT trying this)
do i have to use a specific port to plug in the mouse?

r: drive isnt recognised. as d: is mapped to root, i see no option to get the dvd drive recogniced (once more, i havent tried this with an cdrw inserted).

Regarding jittery sound, slow gameplay, mounting, etc:

If you feel a game is running too slowly or the sound is jittery, then firstly you need to read the documentation.  It clearly explains that you have to play around with the frameskip and cpu cycles to get things running smoothly.  Each game will require diff. params to run correctly because every game taxes the virtual CPU differently.

Regarding mounting of the DVDROM drive:  Default mounting is fine.  If there is no disc in your drive, then it probably will not mount.  If the media you are trying to mount is not xbox-compatible (e.g. not burned via XISO or in UDF format, etc), it won't work.

If you want to mount the F drive, then type this in at the command prompt:

mount f f:\

Where the first "f" is the DOS drive you want to map to and the "f:\" is the XBox drive.

The XBox drives you have available at startup are:

C, D, E, F, R, X, Y, Z

D is the drive/dir in which dosxbox.xbe is located.  R is the DVDROM drive.  All the others are the standard drives.
